I'm thinking about ordering some 45 and 357 hi Tek bullets. Any thoughts or experience with these would be greatly appreciated.

Good stuff, and I am pretty much going to order Hi Tek from now on. Cleaner to handle and cleaner to shoot, and they work well. I've shot a couple thousand .357 158 MBC HiTek SWCs in .357s and .38 specials and they're a good bullet. MBC is one of the good guys.

If by .45 you mean .45 ACP be aware that their "softball" bullet needs to be seated shorter than is typical for 230 RN. It works great, but you usually can't seat them to 1.265" and still plunk/feed properly. Just something to be aware of.

Thanks for the heads up. Like anything else I'm sure I will spend a good amount of time doing a new complete workup between the 45 acp and 357/38. I'm trying to phase out the 38 anyway but still have a lot of brass.

I prefer their revolver bullets and order plenty, but I get RMR for a few cents more for automatic bullets. I didn't like how the 45 ACP bullets performed versus the RMR FMJ with a traditional nose- if I am loading ball I want old school FMJ ball. I probably will load their 200gn SWC 45ACP at some point.

I'm shooting their 45/185 button nose SWC right now, great target bullet. Super clean shooting and affordable.
It did take 4 weeks to get them.

All good stuff. I'm getting low and I expect time for delivery the way things are going right now. I guess that's why I'm looking for something different. I don't think it hurts to have several different suppliers with different loads worked up.

I've been shooting their Hi-Tek's for awhile now in .45 ACP. I don't think that I'll go back to lead either. I put in my order about a month ago and still haven't received them. I'm getting some of the 185 button noses and looking forward to trying them.

I have never actually shot any lead through my 45. I've always used plated in my loads and fmj for factory. Both 230gr RN.

Exactly. And, I’ve heard, variety is the spice of life. I know the thread title is MBC, but Bayou and Blue Bullets are other sources for coated bullets that I use as well.
I generally see a bit faster velocity for a given powder charge over lead loads, so be aware of that. The other thing I adjust is the amount of belling as the coated tend to shave easier than plated. I’ve read on this forum that the M style expander helps immensely so I’m thinking of ordering something M in the future. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments above, I had the same question about their coated bullets vs lubed that I have ordered before in .45 ACP that several of you already answered above. I am going to place an order this week and I would like to ask if someone would please share the MBC Discount Code with me. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

The first time I ordered from Missouri, I got a sample pack of, I think, 100 projectiles. I've ordered thosands since. Might be me, but the coated bullets shoot so clean it's unbelievable. 45 Colts/250gr, 8.0 grains Unique and a couple passes through my Blackhawk and was good to go. 158gr. .357's at 1200fps (18br. I recall), no leading. Have some Keith's for the 45 next and they will be warm. Bullet weight continues to be inconsistent but for me and this shooting it's not relevant.

MBC is a great company. Usually they have fast shipping, but I did notice their website shows a 3 week delay on shipping. They are probably casting their butts off now with panic buying.

I don’t buy bare lead bullets any longer. I always go with the coated.

I have heard good things about MBC, but I personally have not ordered. I believe the product I was interested in was out of stock at the time.
In the meantime, I ordered some bullets from SNS casting. Hi Tek coated and bare lead projectiles available. Quick shipping as well.
I will place an order from MBC when my inventory dictates another non FMJ or HP order. As I fully agree that it is best to have proven loads for different bullets and bullet manufacturers.

I was the same way until I tried some coated SWC's from The Blue Bullets (now discontinued).
Jacketed accuracy and prices better than plated.
Plus you use a little less powder with coated to get the same speed, not a big deal, but nice for the target loads.
Now I use the MBC 185 button and the 200 SWC from SNS Casting.
I'll never go back to plated or jacketed if coated are available.

i use their hytek coated 45 acp 230 gr softball and 200 gr swc. no complaints. i have used their coated 158 gr swc but i ise more of sns casting for 357 since i like the other profiles sns has for 158 gr.

Good stuff, but I've been waiting for weeks for my order to come in.

Matt's bullets has the coolest, most unusual casts I've seen, but they're double the price.

Good experience with MBC for .45acp. Currently I use Acme HiTek coated. Either work well and quality is great!

I've always been curious about the swc in 45acp but have heard so many stories about certain types of bullets not feeding reliably. My Kimber has been pretty reliable only using 230gr RN

A few years ago my father gave me some commercial 45acp 185gr swc's to try in my 3" Kimber. They were very accurate and cycled perfectly. Only problem was it was only about thirty five rounds. So I saved a few as well as the box, and tried to find more. Sadly, they are discontinued.

Last year, I decided to load some 185 swc's and took measurements of the few commercial rounds I had left. Amazingly accurate and not one problem in my 3" Kimber. I still need to try them in my 5" Kimber though.

I started with the Speer 185 tmj's, and am now using Acme 185 hi-tek coated, both with excellent results.

If you want I can pm you with the details so as not to hijack the thread.

I like their bullets also and like others, only get the coated now. Much cleaner. I also use a lot of ACME coated bullets. They are very similar in cost and quality IMO. Blue Bullets is real close to me & I need to try their stuff

Also both have discount codes. ACME just google search as i don't think they have one for THR. MBC does have a THR discount code.

They are good bullets. I buy 45/70 for my sharps. Have not been disappointed yet.

I like the IDP #4s and Cowboy #1s coated. I've shot a couple hundred of the Cowboy bullets, and other than a slight whiff of burning plastic once in a while, they are the same to me.
