Any Experience w/ the Speer Grand Slam 285 Gr. Bullet in .375...?

Haven't had a 375 in years but when I was a kid my dad always had one around. I've shoot a few deer aswell, and does less meat damage then one would think. I can't remember if we used the gs but always used speer bullets and were just fine. I can't say but I'd think any speer would be good up to elk size, they are a good affordable bullet to practice with.

That is. . . unbelievably cheap. I have a bucket full I bought from RMR a couple years ago for almost exactly that price, but I bought 500 to get there.

They are as accurate as anything else I've run in that gun. . . but I think that's the gun's fault. I will be interested in your results if you buy some.

Wish they'd make that exact bullet in .366 (9.3mm).

Thinking of buying these for cheap - and then sizing'em down.

At the modest (2360 fps) velocities of the 9.3x62mm... it would probably be a very rugged bullet.

I know Swift did that for their 3.66 300 gr. A-Frames, before the purpose built 286's came along.

And these don't have partitions.

I know my dad sized some down for a 9.3x57, he made 2 dies. There pretty easy to make using a reamer the polish to size. The Finnish sized takes more time and test but think he got with in .0005.

did the same for making 348 bullets from 358s. As soon as I get a better press I need to make one for .323 down to .318.

Interesting primer on the subject:

Might be easier to just get a .375...

:D

I've used a draw die and re-sized "piles" of .375 GS' to .366"...

Some bullets can be drawn down and still perform well, some can't...
