Altor single shot 9mm

Interesting design but I think I'd rather a two shot derringer, such as a Bond, chambered in 9x19 or 38 Special. At least you'd have a follow up shot without reloading.

The Altor may have plans to make it in other cartridges although I could see the polymer frame might be a limiting factor.

Of course the Bond is available in many cartridges but I've found the larger the bore, the harder to hit a target accurately.
Well, ya, but for the cost of a Bond, you could stuff 5 or 6 of these in your pockets and just discard them after every shot. :)

Can anyone tell what the difference is between the 380 and 9mm? Is the grip part the same? Is the only difference the size of the chamber in the barrel?

I would buy one just to keep in my tool box. Or in my wife's craft drawer. On the flip side of things make or buy a longer barrel have it threaded. Put a suppressor on it. On second thought I'll hold out until they make one in 10mm.

Pretty strange. A gun developed for the CIA in the '60's shows up 60 years later. I saw a "Deer" gun once. A Special Forces guy had it and was going to take it home.

It is kind of hard to believe it is even legal. If you are going to get one, I would say do it soon.

A Snake would be in the next county by the time you loaded it.
First time firearm owners-I would not advise taking this gun to your first training class.

Trigger-DAO Slingshot

Pass.

A gun designed by a non-gun person. Gaston Glock was at least smart enough to hire some gun people....

All I could think is how long till they get sued? Someone is surely going to hurt themselves or someone else and of course blame the gun.
You put the cartridge into what is essentially a shell holder like is used on a reloading press. That means (and the video confirms) that you can fire a bare cartridge without the barrel attached. Does anyone really think there won’t be a whole bunch of idiots who do just that?

Another decent video below. I am surprised about the ability to set off a round without the barrel in place, some sort of "out of battery" safety feature seems like a no-brainer. The "slip" trigger also seems pretty silly and could have been implemented with a normal trigger and the "slip" happening out of sight instead of using your finger.

Looks like one of those "spud guns" I had as a kid -- you pulled back the grip which operated a piston to suck in air, then you stuck the muzzle into a raw potato to fill the bore with a projectile and then shot it by pushing the grip forward while holding the barrel with your other hand.

The basic design seems to be an accident waiting to happen after reading the manual of arms.

The lack of any device to prevent firing without barrel attached is a big problem there. Easy to do X no fail safe + doesn’t look like a real gun = 1 handed teenaged millionaire.
Yep that was the first "accident" I could see happening. The one video the guy of course tries firing it with no barrel and we all know what happens the casing explodes. Someone will of course do this right after they get one. The other part was that trigger. It really is on par with many prison Zip guns. Worse than a blown case will be the accidental discharge with barrel on when someone snaps the trigger when they did not mean to. Whoever is making these is going to have some lawyer (s) all over them in no time.

I agree a Hi Point is a better gun, but this Altor is meant for people who barely have the money to buy a gun at all, think fixed income types. You know, with all the shootings in major cities, I would rather see a single mom in public housing have something than have nothing to protect herself and her kid(s).

60 bucks more......and ill stand here for the hipoint hate lol
Totally. The HP pistols are some of the most butt ugly damn things but there is a ton of video of people trying to make them fail who can't. That one guy plugs the barrels on a bunch of them to get them to blow. It was amazing what he had to do to get one to actually fail. So if someone was really broke and needed cheap? One of them would be well worth it compared to this thing.

I see it becoming the gangsta hideaway/throwaway/hit gun more than that. The one they hand to the 14 year old for his initiation. Betting your life (and your kids') on one shot? As mentioned, the Hi-point is a much better choice. A single shot smacks of being a covert offensive weapon more than a defensive one. As mentioned before, more like a Liberator pistol, but for what purpose?
