I just got a Glock 43X and looking for an IWB holster. Never having had one before, I don't know what features to look for and the comfort level of different styles. Two that I have considered are the Simply Rugged Cumberland (or DEFCON 3) and the Crossbreed Supertuck.

Any thoughts about a full leather vs leather/kydex like the Supertuck and how either of these should perform?

Holsters are really personal and what works for one may not work for another.

From a big picture perspective, the Glock G43X is a very small, lightweight gun.

The Cumberland ( https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecomme...aled-Carry-Holster.cfm?item_id=359&parent=669 ), DEFCON 3 ( https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecomme...aled-Carry-Holster.cfm?item_id=414&parent=669 ), and the Crossbreed SuperTuck ( https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/holsters/inside-the-waistband-holsters/supertuck-iwb-holster.html ) are all fairly large footprint holsters with outboard loops designed to spread the weight of large/heavy guns across the belt. While they may work great, they seem like a lot of holster for such a small gun.

I started off carrying a 43x with a knock off Crossbreed holster. The leather usually needs to be trimmed to your liking but they are comfortable after a day or two. Re holstering is easy because the kydex doesn't fold shut. The leather/kydex holster is all I use and they are great for bigger guns too.

It also depends on your dimensions and where you want to carry the gun.

Large footprint holsters work well for larger folks and not so well for those that are very thin.

Hybrids are designed for wear aft of 3:30 (clock position on the body 12:00 is at your navel) where you often find a large flat spot on your body. One problem hybrid owners often run into is when they try to wear them at 3:00, the point of the hip, the leather backing will easily wrap around the body, but the kydex part is rigid and won't. You end up with the kydex cracking at the attachment point, reducing the holster's life span. Worn properly, they typically last as long as any other holster.

The only truly comfortable IWB holster I've ever experienced was a Crossbreed Supertuck with horse hide, for a Sig P239. Compared to that, everything else has been pretty uncomfortable. Different guns, either with the same or different brands of IWB holsters haven't been as good.

I think the Supertuck P239 combo worked so well for me because the gun is rather narrow and short, so it sat behind my pelvic bone and above my hip joint. The hide backer, spread the profile of the gun out onto my body, and because the gun was narrow, my belt didn't push a bulge of gun through the backer. I could imagine similar success with a G43X. But as has been said, much of it is based on the particulars of the individual's body.

Great advice from everyone. Thank you.

Seeing that an IWB holster will be worn next to the body, is a leather holster more comfortable than a kydex one?

It depends.

Leather is softer than kydex, so it may be more comfortable. On the other hand, kydex is typically thinner than leather, and won't absorb sweat like leather. Everybody has a favorite and neither camp is wrong.

The holster body never touches my skin as I always wear a tucked in t-shirt of some kind.

To this day and even though the gun and holster are both long gone, the most comfortable IWB holster gun combo I have used was the Milt Sparks Versa Max and the full size Browning Hi Power.

I can only imagine that holster would work excellently with any gun it is available for.

I moved south and my dress and carry habits changed so I rarely carry IWB anymore. When I do it is a J frame in a Don Hume WCS holster. I like the setup as it is very “grab-n-go” but also secure and provides for one handed reholstering. Much smaller but still not as comfy as the aforementioned Milt Sparks and BHP combo.

If you wear your shirts tucked in, you need a holster with tuckable belt clips.
I like Desantis SofTuck. Very discreet. The belt clips are hidden under your belt.

And the Crossbreed supertuck.

I guess my pics wont load today....

I am not familiar with the Glock 43X, but I thought some photos of my EDC IWB set up might help. I carry a LXP II with 7+1 and an extra 7 round magazine IWB. I use a DeSantis SlimTuck Kydex holster. The photos show it and the extra mag in concealment and exposed.

SuperTucks didn't really work for me. The whole "tuck" thing just didn't work for me. If I wore a suit all day and took the coat off in my office then maybe. But I work (worked actually) in an envioronment where I would be down to t-shirt and doing manual labor a couple times a day.

I finally settled on the JM Tactical magnetic. Easy on-Easy off. Leather. The only nit, and everyone has experienced it, sometimes something will stick to the magnet when you least expect it.

I remember looking at Milt Sparks when I was looking for an OWB holster. A work of art but their wait is now between 18 and 24 weeks.

TT Gun Leather does very nice work and I have purchased from them before. Their thinnest is the Slim XC. Is this still an overkill for a G43X?

I own both TT gun leather makes good holsters but Milt Sparks are head and shoulders above them for about the same money worth the wait
