NFA check up

You can call the NFA Branch in West Virginia. They will tell you if your form is pending, approved, assigned to an examiner, etc. Usually you won't get much more information than that though.

To check the status of your pending form, call the NFA Branch at (304) 616-4500. Please have your trust name (if applicable), serial number, and if a Form 4 or 5, know what dealer is in possession of the item. Press 1 and then 1 again, and be kind to the ATF agent.

the following link is a bunch of guys on reddit posting when they submitted, what they submitted, when they were approved, and how long it took. many are taking 6 months. some a year. it's kind of a crap shoot.

If it's a form 4 you still got about 6 or 7 months.

Every single form 4 that I’ve done has been 6 months. Whether it was my first in 2008 or one during the 2012/13 panic. It’s like the examiners see my name and go, “him? Eh, 6 months. Less than that and he’ll get too eager, more than that and he’ll call us and complain too much.”

Give it at least 6 months before you call.

I just got one of my stamps back (Form 4 trust). 369 days from the time they cashed the check to arrival at my dealer.

My last transfer took 11-1/2 months. Picked up in May.

I posted in another thread that my check was just deposited after 50 days. Now for the stamp.

All 5 of my Form 4 single RP trust has took 11 months, from the day I mailed till I got the call to get my stamp.

This is my second Form 4. The first was right at 10 months all in. Hopefully 11 months will be the max.

I got my gemtech SFN back, snail mail form 4 I think I sent it off sometime in February or March. But I'll check the date on the form.
Still took at least 9 months from the time I bought it for my tax stamp to drop.
After you have like 4 why don't they just rubber stamp them?

asking "why" about anything NFA related is a short road to madness.

It was dated 3-12. It defies all logic.
The local gun shop says they have been seeing a lot come back in 5 to 6 months lately.
It took about a month for the form 3 to go through and then I didn't fill out the form 4 for a month or so when all the china virus kicked off I wasn't sure what to do about finger prints.

Got my snail mailed form 1 back for my M203. Sent off on or around may 25, got it back today October 2.

Just got the stamp today. So 5 months from deposit of check to stamp. That was faster than I expected.

It came back in 5 months. Just in time for Christmas.

my last one was 15 months- Form 4 for individual
no rhyme or reason
