My most accurate revolver:

A cult classic!

Another outstanding S&W:

My most common EDC:

My own Taurus Old Model 66. It's from 1982-82, IIRC.

Another Taurus Model 66 variant, a Model 689 from 1990 or so:

Nice to see another old model 66 out there!!
How did you figure out what year yours was made?

I think I found a serial number list online. The older Taurus Model 66's had serial numbers that began with a letter IRRC. My memory may be imperfect, but I think they moved from an internal hammer lock to a transfer bar around 1983 or so. Mine is one of the later ones to have the hammer block.

Picked up this one a few months back. It’s like new in the box. The guy at work offered to sell it to me for $350 around 8am. I didn’t need it so I said no thanks.
Around 2pm he offered to sell it to me for $300. I really didn’t need it, or want it so, I told him I would give him $250. He said no thanks.
Around 6pm he called me and told me if I had the $250 in the morning, I could have it. Well I bought it but haven’t shot it yet.
S&W 442-1 Airweight.

Mine has a hammer block as well. Hmm. I also know that mine has 2 pins on the hand for rotating the cylinder. I read somewhere that they removed one after a lawsuit by S&W in the mid 80's. Maybe there's someone out there that can shed a bit more light on this.

I bought it for $250 because of the overall excellent original finish and good bore, but it was a mechanical basket case. I fabbed 3 springs for it and replaced the hand and bolt to get it running again, but finally traded it off on a gorgeous Luger- definitely a good trade for me!

Relative rarity- plus they look cool. Thats all.
My 8(?) Barrel had been overtightened at some point and the point of impact would rotate around as the cylinder gap was changed, no way to correct it and it was before I knew replacement barrels were available . the snubby barrel shot to poa. Sadly I sold that gun for $200 and it wasn't terribly long ago - about 7-8 years.
