Given the cost of centerfire ammo, I decided to look for a 22LR pistol. Looked at the Glock/44, Walther PPQ/22, and a few others. After scouring YouTube for the best for the money, I decided to go for the Taurus TX which holds 16 rounds. Retail is around $300 bucks, so I ordered one.

It's hard to believe the cost of 9mm these days, that's if you can find any. Most local shelves are empty. Shooting a 22 auto could be lots of fun! Taurus_TX22_5.jpg

I want one myself but waiting locally to get it. After shipping and transfer it's not worth it to me. Though everyone place I shop online doesn't even have them in stock

Good luck with it. A guy tried to sell me one at my LGS but when I found I could get a new Browning Buckmark for about $30 more after rebate it was all over. Love my new Buckmark Stainless Camper.

I probably will get a Glock 44 at some point soon to as my main CCW is a Gen 2 Glock 19.

Hope you got a good stash of 22 LR ammo as supplies are drying up quickly and prices high on what can be found.

I know Gunny did quite a good review of the TX22 and I think another thread comparing it to the G44. He also did a good review of the G44.

When I bought my Glock G44 a few months ago the only other semiautomatic that was available locally was the GSG Firefly (rebranded Sig Mosquito). Needless to say I went with the G44 over the Firefly. I have been very happy with it. I still wouldn't mind checking out the Taurus TX22 as long as the trigger is NOT anything like the old Taurus 24/7 pistols.

I picked one up for 200 last Fall. So far have no complaints. I tend to shoot it more than my Ruger mkiii because I like that it feels and functions like my actual SD handguns. The Ruger is probably a tad more accurate, but I’m not trying to shoot the nipples off a mouse.

LOL!!!

I've got a TX, G44, and LCP .22. The TX is my favorite, it feels nearly identical to my VP40 which is one of the few center fired guns I own that I can easily find ammo for. The TX trigger and reset are awesome!

Michael....Nice score , that's a very attractive little gun , and what fun ! ....

I have the S&W Plastic M&P .22 Compact in that niche. It is handy and reliable but a bit light and wavery like the rest.

Gee, where does the magazine spring go in the TX with 16 rounds in the clip?

i think ive read the tx22 is a double stack were everyone else is a single stack. I have the MP22c as well. I think in the interest of saving money SW kept theres at 10 to keep it compliant in other states. If you look at how tall the insert is, there is at least room for 2-3 more rounda if it was cut down

No. Look at the picture in post #1.
There are a couple of places selling followers to increase the capacity of the Smith. You can have two rounds and normal operation or four rounds and lose the automatic slide stop function.
You are probably right on the legal front. The Smith 422 came with a 12 shot magazine that also fit the M41. Now it is all tens for guns made in a repressive state.

Piece of crap, ask any Taurus hater. They're so bad I bought two. Seriously a great .22. I'm something of a .22 handgun impulse buyer so I end up good and bad. The two TX22's are all good. Does excellent with any .22 ammunition. It won't out shoot my Ruger MKII or KadeT Kit, but an accurate fun plinker. .Enjo IMG_3703.JPG y!

Onions don't make me cry, Taurus making a better .22 than Glock makes me cry!

Thankfully I have a huge supply of 22.cal ammo. Saw this crap coming years ago. And still, even for the past three months have been having 22.cal ammo come in on a regular basis, but that will be gone soon.

Congrats on the Taurus!
