Traveling armed today

Just a edc , I don't travel to war zones lol.

My stops are big truck stops for gas and bathroom breaks and restaurants for eating while traveling. It's not the need for a gun so much as a need to pay attention to your surroundings and make decisions based off them.

For instance....
- I never allow the gas tank to get below half, that let's me buy options and not have to stop some where I don't like.
- never leave wife alone in car( happened at walmart once and some guy pressed his nude manhood against the windows , super awkward 911 call)
- be nice to people, its easier to call someone a buddy in an friendly tone of voice and possibly be able to deescallate a problem before it gets to using lethal force.(use common sense here, distance is still your friend here yell I am Corona positive or anything if someone is closing in and you don't like it)

The last time I did it I was carrying a Smith & Wesson model 915 and one reload.

If I did it today it would be a Glock 19 and two reloads

sometimes I bring (in addition) a service sized pistol for easy access within the vehicle.

So EDC in my pants, full size pistol in a designated spot within the vehicle.

2 reloads for EDC, 2 reloads for extra pistol.

Actually, we (my wife and I) just carry our regular EDC guns when we go out of state - which is fairly often, I guess. You see, we live about 30 miles south of the “big” city of Pocatello, Idaho, but we’re only about 50 miles north of the Utah border, and the even “bigger” cities there. Which direction we head (either north or south) when we go to town mostly depends on why we’re going and what we’re looking for. We still carry the same guns for self-protection in Utah as we carry in Idaho though.:)

In our 2020 world what do you carry/take with you when traveling out of state to states that have reciprocity with your states CCW license. Never knowing when you might encounter an angry mob.
Actually, during those rare out-of-state trips, any extra firearms/ammo (aside from my chosen carry piece) that I pack are with the idea that I will probably/hopefully meet one or more people that have never fired (and would like to) one of these firearms or, in some cases, any firearms. :)

I don't buy into the random angry mob thing. There are protests, many peaceful. There a protests that have gotten out of hand and turned into unjust riots. Despite that not happening in my area, I would not go areas that are known powder kegs regardless of my loadout. I carry the same EDC as I always do with the same amount of ammo. I refuse to get worked up about people being angry at the system (rioting is bad, but I'm not not scared of folks exercising the first amendment as that is what most are), and I don't see a personal need to arm myself more than I generally do. Heading to Louisville this weekend with a Shield .45 on my hip with a reload. Same thing I carry to work. Same thing I have at the grocery. Same thing I usually carry traveling pretty much anywhere.

Any upgrade I have done to my EDC kit has had to do with people acting stupid due to COVID-19. My spidy sense tingles a lot more about people panicing or making ill-informed decisions based on a disease than worrying about civil unrest. I tossed my 590A1 in the trunk before we went to Florida for vacation a couple weeks ago. I would much rather have a little extra in reserve if things got shut down or people panic or whatever.

You vacation example is what I am thinking about.

My EDC is a Glock 19/23 IWB + spare mag + 2nd option pistol (Kahr PM9) in weak hand front pocket.
On a trip I'll take a complete replacement for each with holsters (Glock 19/23 + spare mag + Kahr PM40).

1911 commander OWB, one extra may on belt. My wife carries an LCP.
I tend to bring a SS mini 14 with folding stock for out of state over nighters.
Of course mags and ammo as needed.

Carry/truck gun is a 9mm flavred Third Gen S&W, typically the "compact", (for it's time) 6904 and a couple mags. For travel, I add a Kel-tec Sub 2k with the 5900 S&W mag catch, two 17 rounders and two 30 round sticks. Every mag will interchange with every weapon.

Yeah, that has been me as well. For road trips I would bring my carry gun, and, if I thought the trip could include some recreational shooting, a few others in the hopes I could have some fun with them.

I haven't had to travel in 2020 yet, but I'd probably just carry my lcp like I normally do when I travel. It's small and there's never a "travelling" wardrobe that it doesn't fit with.

. . . what do you carry/take with you when traveling. . . Never knowing when you might encounter an angry mob.

Just an edc , I don't travel to war zones lol.

There's the answer. If you pay a bit of attention, you CAN know most of the time. If you think there's a chance you might meet a mob somewhere. . . don't meet them there.

I just got back from a trip to a non-reciprocity state. I brought my EDC pistol, along with a couple of extra magazines. I couldn't carry my gun while out and about, so pepper spray, a TDI knife, and a flashlight were the tools I had on me when away from where I was staying.

For road trips, I throw an AR pistol in the car if legal.

I live in Central Oregon.

When I used to go into the office to work I carried a KelTec P32 because flashing or printing isn't an option and I work behind 2 sets of secured locked doors.

Around town I carry my LCP in .380 or DB9 in 9mm depending on what I am wearing.

When I go to Portland (about 3 hrs each way) I carry an XDs 3.3" in .45acp with the extended magazine.

I rarely go to other states. I dread going to California since the only people that carry there are pretty much by default criminals. I might be less apprehensive about CA if I was allowed to protect myself instead of putting myself at the mercy of anyone that thinks I look like I have money on me.
