Earplugs or ear muffs?

My default is just plugs because I have electronic plugs and don't for muffs. If someone starts shooting rifle or heavy magnum indoors I'll put a set of muffs on quick. If I had to pick just one for no reason but ear protection I'd probably go muffs as they protect the tiny little bones just under the skin around the ear that can be damaged just by the concussion of gunfire even with plugs.

When indoors I use both. Foam in the ear with the muffs that let you hear conversation but shut off when guns fire. With the volume turned up on them it's easy to hear and talk when someone is not firing even with the foam plugs in. If I am alone in there and shooting my .22's I will just leave the muffs off. Put them back on when I move up or others join me.

What’s better ear plugs or ear muffs for indoor shooting?
I'm another fan of using both, especially indoors. Soft foam ear plugs and a set of electronic earmuffs.

I use both while shooting at an indoor range. Even 22lr can be loud in an indoor range.
Plus, even if you are shooting .22LR the person right next to you might be shooting their full bore .44 magnum loads.

I just picked up a set of Walker's Razor electronic muffs from midway for $42 on sale. Recommended by my friend. He loves his. I'll try them out next range trip.
I will still use plugs underneath because why not?
I love mine! I don’t use plugs with them at the moment but I also do most of my shooting outside.

Both. Between the military and a keen interest in loud music when I was younger, I'll gladly do what I can to keep what hearing I have left.

Another good incentive for doubling up is to keep the tinnitus from acting up.

Plugs for rifles, muffs for pistols, both for BOOMsticks.

Muffs interrupt a good cheek weld, plugs are slow in/out, and I rarely shoot anything loud enough to need both while outside.

Inside? Last time I was in an indoor range, I wanted a diving bell that sealed at the hips. The concussion was a hammering.

I'm pretty sure thats what I recently got at Sams Club for a few bucks less.

I ended up buying a 2nd pair after I used them once,,, even though muffs get in the way when I shoot long guns.

I shoot outdoors and switch from back and forth between handguns & long guns so that's kind of a pain.
