slide bottom.jpg slide top.jpg Getting light strikes on a Llama .22 XV. Cannot figure out how to remove firing pin retainer, which comes up from the bottom of the slide and is circular staked at the top surface. Cannot break loose with a screwdriver from the bottom, any suggestions on how to remove the staking without messing up the surface of the slide?

Photos not much help. So is this your situation? Screw head exposed on underside of slide, top of slide the axle end of the screw has been staked? Screen Shot 2020-07-23 at 6.32.49 PM.png

Correct, it appears the end of the pin was contoured to the slide profile and circular staked before bluing. Trying to figure out how to remove the staking with out butchering the slide totally. If you zoom up on the top of slide pic you should be able to see the staking.

I believe that circular mark on the top is a proof mark, not a staking mark.
I've never seen a staked Llama firing pin pin.

Don't need to butcher the slide...butcher the screw head as last resort. Why not just use the usual sequence of methods for a tight screw. IF the screw head gets marred in the process, it's only $8! Always work on the least expensive or easiest part to replace first.

Duh, never thought about that being a proofmark, looked like it was in line with the pin. Soaking in kroil now, will try again in a week or so.

Check it closely. Use a straight edge, etc to see if it really does line up. Check from the side and the back.

Even less!

Soaking overnight in kroil allowed removal. Now just need to order a new firing pin. New screw ordered, but recut slot in old screw so can reuse for now. Thanks for all the help.
