While I used to overthink and vacillate on handgun ammunition as a younger man, I'm much less fussy about the subject after a career in LE and having trained and served as a LE firearms instructor.
I prefer standard pressure 230gr JHP loads in my .45 ACP pistols, and spent a long time acquiring and using Rem Golden Sabre (non-bonded), W-W RA45SXT/RA45T and Federal HST. I also used to use Federal Hydra-Shok and Speer GDHP, but there are better JHP's to be found than the Hydra-Shok nowadays, and Speer has never been as easily available on store shelves in my area.
I prefer either 124gr +P, 127gr +P+ or 147gr in my 9's. The 124gr's have included Rem Golden Sabre (non-bonded) and W-W T-series. The 127gr +P+ is obviously the W-W load, and I've used various production vintages of it, from RA9SXTP to RA9TA. The 147's include a couple vintages of W-W RA9T and Federal HST. I have some older 147gr W-W BT and Fed Hydra-Shok. The BT is just a curiosity (from the first vintage of the SXT bullet with Lubalox coating), and the Hydra-Shok is a leftover supply from the 90's (which I'd packed away and forgotten about, until unpacking some older ammo I'd put aside).
For .40 S&W I tend to prefer the 180gr bullet weights, although I've also used some 165gr (RA40TA) and 155gr (STHP) at various times. The 180's I've mostly used have ranged from the older (original) W-W RA40180HP and the Rem Express, up to the W-W T-Series, Rem Golden Sabre (non-bonded) and Federal HST. Any of them are fine with me. I have a S&W 4040PD that has exhibited a specific "liking" for the W-W 155gr STHP, so I keep a couple of (expensive) boxes of them available for that compact pistol.
I do have a respectable amount of the W-W USA branded 147gr, 180gr & 230gr loads for my pistols, but that's mostly for range use. I've carried them in the past, but there are certainly better, more modern JHP options in all calibers than those old-style cup & core JHP's.
My .357MAG revolvers typically get loaded with the same rounds I used to carry on & off-duty, which are the Rem 125gr SJHP and W-W 145gr STHP. I used to use a lot of the Federal 125gr many years ago, but it's not been an easy load to find on store shelves in my area. I briefly carried W-W 125gr JHP on & off-duty for a while in my service revolver days, but prefer the Rem SJHP bullet design. I also have a small supply of the discontinued Rem 140gr SJHP I put back (to save) many years ago.
In my .38SPL snubs that are rated for use with +P, I usually use Speer 135gr +P GDHP; W-W 130gr +P (RA38B); and Rem 125gr +P Golden Sabre.
I have an older framed Airweight, a M37DAO, that only sees standard pressure loads. I used to prefer the 110gr Federal Hydra-Shok and W-W STHP, but then I added the 110gr Hornady FTX/CD standard pressure load, as it's a tack-driver in my Airweight and the muzzle blast/felt recoil is reduced in my gun. I found a good deal on ordering some from a local shop, so I put enough boxes aside to last me a while. I like the FTX/CD enough that I also occasionally use it even in my +P rated pair of 642-1's and my pair of .357 chambered M&P 340's. I have some Hornady American Gunner standard pressure 125gr JHP's put back, because I also found a good deal on them, but I'd be surprised if they consistently expanded when fired out of the Airweight's short barrel.
My pair of LCP's generally see either Speer GDHP or Rem GS, as I put back a fair amount of each when I found them available over the years. I think I only have a single 50rd box left of the W-W T-Series .380 I picked up at the W-W distributor when I retired (when it was relatively affordable at individual officer pricing).
My .44's and .45Colt seldom see carry use anymore, so those ammo choices are probably of little interest. I still have a lot of factory loads for both, and a lot of older 80's & 90's vintage handloads left over.
