My step grand daughter has never been to my club's range but I've taken her to my buddies back yard range countless times. There's usually just 2 or 3 of us and while it's pretty informal we still go by the same range safety rules that are in place at my club. So if she ever gets to the club range she already knows the drill and what to do or not do. My buddies place is a lot closer than the club so I save time & gas and she never gets bored or distracted, as she loves shooting and wishes she could go more often. Last week she got to experience using a red dot sight for the first time, and gave my Henry .22 lever gun with a cheap Tasco red dot a real workout... IMG_9351.JPG

Bud had a sun room w little table and a cut down milsurp .22 single shot. 2.5x weaver.
On bipods, we' d put a kid on lap, w muffs and shoot the .22 silhouettes on a railroad tie maybe 20 yards away
Had to pull their heads back for the scope image to be correct, they always wanted to cram their eye right up to lens.

But, as 3 and 4 yr olds, the two girls got to smackin steel pretty regular.

Was buying bricks of Remington CB for 15 bucks back then.

Oldest is in nursing school now. Hasnt shot forever. Youngest is 22. She likes her grandpas .22 lr Anschutz exemplar w iron sights and 7mm 08 striker w scope.

Ill pick up a Buckmark contour and slap a reddot/ reflex on it. That should get her some fun ( put that against a bank of clay pigeons )

Enjoy em when theyre little. Doesnt seem like yesterday, more like a couple months ago.....but its been almost 25 yrs since that trainer and steel chicken summer fun.

That's awesome guys. I took my son last year for the first time. He is now 10 and we are trying to see when I can take him again. I was talking to my 7 year old daughter and she's been expressing an interest in the guns and shooting. She even "helped" me reload some rounds the other day. I'd give her a powdered case every five or so, and she'd dump it on the scale, read it, and then fill the case again. She was happy to help.
My son has helped me reload by pulling the handle or feeding the cases several times. I'll have to find the pics from my son's range trip.
