Mircotech UTX-70

Don't have a photo, but the last one I bought was about 4 days ago. It is a Bark River Guardless Drop Point Hunter with walnut handles and mosaic pins. I'm tickled. It turned out to be a first production run made of CPM-154 steel.

I picked up a KaBar TDI LDK as a neck knife the other day, really a hand little piece of kit.

It just arrived, Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight SPY27.

What was the last knife you bought?

Just picked up a Kershaw Leek a couple of weeks ago. I like how it's an easy opener with just one hand. Haven't used it enough yet to comment on how it holds and edge. But it's very compact and easy to carry. Seems to be very well made.

Not strictly "bought" because it was a trade but this arrived yesterday.

I am truly envious of folks who have stories like this to share. I was born late in my family, and by the time I was old enough to learn skills from my dad, he no longer had the desire to teach. I love him of course, but I do not have the kind of relationship with him that I hear many people speak of with their fathers. I'm self taught on most life skills. It's very cool that he taught you about sharpening.

You got it. I’ve only had it for a few days. It is very small, fits in a coin pocket. Time will tell if it is too small to make it into the regular rotation.

The smallest one I carry is a ZT0900. 2.7 inch clip point blade. But I really dig that little Spyder. I could see picking one up.

The knife came to me as part of a trade. I had no idea how to use it, but loved how quickly it came out of the pocket, and liked the idea of the loop for retention in a fight. Looking up some videos showed mostly jackasses swinging the thing around and cutting themselves. I was turned off enough that I put the knife in a drawer and forgot about it.

But it comes out of the pocket so fast!

So eventually I ordered the trainer, which was backordered for many months, so I forgot about it again.

Eventually the trainer showed up, so I took it to the MBC class and everyone fooled around with it. Nobody else knew how to train with it, though. There is an instructor about 45 minutes away, but his videos show a bunch of goofiness with it as well. Spinning it on you finger, bopping people on the head with the unsharpened spine, etc.

So it's back in the drawer. I think it might be useless.

But damn, does it come out of the pocket fast!

The last knife I bought is a Zwilling Pro bread knife. Hard to beat a good bread knife.

My carry knife is a SOG Flash One, which I found next to a dumpster. Made an honest week long effort to find the owner. The thing really holds an edge. I learned to sharpen knives and tools from the blacksmith my Dad, and then I, used for years.
