Ruger 10/22 Hi-Caps

I personally prefer the 10 rounders. Been flawless over the yrs.
However............today my ol lady took her 10/22 to the range and with plate and screws in her dominant hand, she couldn't
load a mag to save her life.
So Id load one while she burned the other. 250 rounds in about an hour.
My thumb a little chewed up hide wise, but not sore.

She asked for a higher cap mag and at the farm store they had the BX25s. Heard bad reports here and there, but figure I'd get her one and see if it needs tweaked.

Way back I had the hot lips Butler Creek (black ones) and they ran flawless. The Eagle stuff was junk, as was everything else in the 90's.
I dunno what other mags are out there of higher cap, or ultra high cap.

I think the BX25 is too long, but she wanted one.
They proly suck if you like both arms on the bench.

Sitting or kneeling they proly fine, but if one touched my forearm I'd be chucking it in the weeds.

The bx25 mags work fine. I still would rather have 2 - 10 rounders compared to 1- 25 round.

I have a lot of the "Steel Lips" from before the great ban that all still work. When Ruger put their name on a 25 rounder I bought a few and they too work fine. The 25 round ones with Rugers name on them are made by some vendor for them but seem fine. Just have to clean them now and then when they get dirty. I use some
Graphite lube made for locks after I clean and they churn along for a good while after. There is a good video on Youtube on making the BX25's more reliable. Have not seen it in a good while but if anyone has some trouble with theirs it looked like a good way to try for a fix.

The 15 round Ruger mags are WAY bette than any 10 rounders, as you can leave them loaded without fatiuge on the spring not advancing rounds faster than the bolt cycles, after just a day or two of being fully loaded. No hiccups so far with at least 4 in constant use in the family.
Beyond 15Rds, i dont know....

Get the BX-25 Ruger mags - they work great. I've also never had the Butler Creek 25 round mags fail to feed, but they also can't be disassembled like the BX-25's can so if you get dirt in them you're pretty much SOL.

I use that Synthetic Safe spray cleaner on my Steel Lips when they build up "crud". So far has worked great. I let them dry and put in some Graphite dry lube sold for locks and they keep pumping out the ammo. It is VERY nice that the BX mags were made to be able to take apart though. Another great idea someone came up with.

The TI 25 is still the best but they haven't been in stock in months, at least. The Ruger BX25 and BX15 are very good, as is the 25rd from High Tower Armory. Had mixed results with the Promag 25rd. The Battledyne is terrible. As is the Promag drum. The BDM drum wasn't much better. I honestly wouldn't take a chance on the GSG drum.

Those BX-15s for the Charger have been calling my name, but I have not answered them yet....

I just added extended mag releases to all my 10/22 and so far continue to used the standard mags the most

I have a Ti but have not done the fitting. The BX25 work for me away from the table but I like a very low supported position and prone ( thus the appeal of the BX15)

I haven't used the GSG 110 round drum but I have used the 50 round drum from Black Dog. It works fine if you load it carefully and use CCI Mini-mag ammo. Some ammo won't run in it at all, such as Eley Force. It doesn't feed: you'll be lucky to get three consecutive rounds to chamber.
Also on the Black Dog drum magazine you can take it apart and adjust the tension of the spring, which can improve feeding.

I didn't even know they had that.

I've never had a single problem with the normal 10 round rotary mags. I have some that are well over 30 yrs old.

My bx25s haven't given me any problems in the limited use Ive had.

I've also like coupling 2 rotary mags together but it's hard to beat just using 1 for the comfort of carry.

I have three of the ten-rounders and a BX-25. They all work well. I also have a Pro-Mag 30-round from back in the eighties that works well (I like that one because you can see how many rounds are left in it.)

I also have a Ramline (Jamline?) from back then that never worked.

I have 2 or 3 of the ramline double stack 30 rounds that still work today.

TheY made several varieties in single stack and double stack and smoked clear plastic and solid black.

I must of went through a dozen or more... the only ones I found to be reliable were the double stack 30 round smoked clear plastic.

They are the BX15 , a shorter BX25, and a bit handier.

I am rather harsh on .22lr’s, as I literally have one along, everyday, on my snowgo, in my boat, in my hands. My last Ruger probly had a 40,000 round count, just to be conservative, my Romanian M69 might be passed 30,000 by now, between me and the kds, who knows, we burn about 4, 5,000 rd cases of .22 lr a year, in our hunts and play at the target ranges we set up.

Thanx one & all for responses ! I got 4 of the BX-25's .....and got a GMG 110 rnd drum just for sh*** and giggles ! (If nothing else it will tick off any libs). Oh, and got an Uplula loader on order. ........Almost ready to go !!

I had a black 30 rd double stack ramline that worked perfectly until it wore out. My eagle 10 rounders were fine too. BC steel lips are still running

I generally use the bx25 for plinking an the 10rd rotary for hunting.

I picked up a bunch of Butler Creek mags when you could get them for chump change (less than $10). I've never had any problems.

I have the Ruger BX-25x2 and BX-15, and they performe well. I have them so friends and family can plink away. For me, the 10 rounders are the way to go as I much prefer the flush fit.
