I have a new American ranch 223/5.56. Shot very well with frontier store bought ammo. Had a cheap 4x scope then found a nice Leopold 2.5/8x. No more store boughts to re zero. I have 8lbs of CFE223 and a bunch of 55 gr fmj bullets. Does anyone have a load for this combination so I can zero and then work up my own load. CFE223 wasn’t my first choice but nowadays ya do what ya can do. Thanks JEB

I use the CFE-223 and the Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT as my plinking round. I load them at 27.7 gr with a OAL of 2.21" with LC-12 Brass and #41 primers. I find that different years of brass require a small OAL change to keep all the lots running the same. 1moa accuracy out of my AR's.

Thanks Blue. How fast is the twist in your AR & how long is the barrel.

My 16" 1:8 AR shooting 55gr Hornady FMJs really likes mid 25gr, mid 26gr and lower 27gr loads. 27.5 was a little too hot in mine with WSR primers and older LC brass. There were several good nodes there.

Start with Hodgdon's starting load and work up. You'll find the node.

I like the way the powder performs, don't care for the smell.

I load 27.1 gr. CFE223 with a Hornady 55gr. FMJ for my AR with a 16" 1:9 barrel. OAL is 2.210". Velocity measured 2962 fps. Hodgdon website shows 26.0 - 27.8. for CFE223. Hornady recommends 24.8 - 27.4 (from Hornady email).
