I'm not one to rant but here I go....

Resized_20200817_111803.jpeg I see what you are talking about but then again I APPRECIATE a gun that can be serviced with common hand tools. My CZ single action only has them and I appreciate not having to use specialty tools on it.

Yes, appearing straight from Home Depot.
Well, I can't see any point using common screws if they aren't at least blued, and preferably clocked to align slots (by cutting the screw heads after final assembly). So there!

Yes, appearing straight from Home Depot. Perhaps that's a personal quark of mine but it bugs me and bugs me a lot! I don't need a hex or Torx screw but please at least make it a flat head. It's like sporting sandals while wearing a three piece suit. The irk-factor is much subdued when paired with a $140 Hi Point, but for something that can cost 20 times that? Like nails on a chalk board.
It nearly drives me to drink.

Oooo, yeah totally missed it. I don't find the gun at all attractive, so having the wrong head type on the grip screw doesn't bother me.
If I somehow ended up with one, I'd just change it. I'd also Duracoat the thing something besides black, and/or change the grips and control colors.

If you’re going to drop $2K on a CZ then you should have the grip screws and front sight that you like & want on the gun, this is all minor stuff.

For my own CZ 75B I have $460 in the base gun and about $300 in upgrades, including the rubber grips, the CZ Custom F.O. front & blind battlesight rear, trigger work, and the same race hammer that is on that $2K gun. The F.O. front sight darn sure works for me, that’s all I can say!

I am uf the opinion that a base CZ 75B or SA with some CGW or CZ Custom work done to it is all I personally need, but YMMV and it’s all good!

Below is a Limited edition CZ 75 B from 2009. Note the philips head.

Below is a CZ 75 pre B from the early 80s next to a CZ97 from 98 or 99. Note the stand screw in the Pre Bs and the Philips in the CZ.

If this is the first time noticing that then, well, that's kinda on the fella who just discovered it.

CZ has been using the Philips for over a decade on all their pistols (all, as far as I know). Fact is, the Philips screwdriver do not slip as easily as the slotted screwdrivers do and generally are more common than a torx wrench for most folks. Simple choice for a simple reason.

As others have said they are easy to change and cost less than a McDonald's lunch.

Honestly, I never noticed the Phillips screw. '96 Turk Military...and I replaced the grips.

If you like the rest of it, don't worry about the grip screw fastener. Philips is better than straight, every time.

Nope, me neither. I see no similiarity with a HiPoint except that both are butt-ugly.......

My thoughts as well.
Can't believe you guys didn't spot that sooner.
Hard to spot ugly on ugly.

Don't mean to offend but I'm not seeing $2000+ worth of gun there.

I had to swap out the screws on my CZ-75B. I just couldn't get used to the phillips head screws on there--it just looked wrong. It was a little surprising--usually that kind of stuff doesn't bother me but I guess I'd never seen phillips head grip screws on a gun before.

To add insult to injury, mine were held in with some kind of threadlocker and the effort required to get the screws out was truly impressive. I could only get about a quarter turn at a time on the screws using as much force as I could muster. Took a long time to get those screws out, but it was worth all the effort and time to replace them, IMO.

There aren’t many folks that buy a black CZ for the looks. Their beauty is definitely mechanical, especially ones like this from the CZ Custom shop.

For the price of a McClaren P1 you could buy 18 top of the line Landrover Defenders, but I doubt any of the Landrovers would win a race on pavement.

Thankfully if the looks turn you off on this thing there is an abundance of visual beauty in the firearms world. Someone else will buy the ugly ducklings and enjoy how they shoot.

If the screws bother you Hogue has blued slotted screws for CZs. I have those on one of my guns.

I personally like Phillips and Flat heads.

As a Jeep owner, I have pure hatred for Torx.

I see this as a win.

Yeah, I'm far more likely to have a Philips of flat head on me, or even a knife blade if I'm desperate, in case the grip panels work loose at the range (had that happen a few times on 1911s), so I don't see the issue. Definitely don't think it detracts from the visual appeal, such as it is. I don't find CZs particularly beautiful anyway. Good working guns anyway.
