Does anybody know why they put GPS on all thermal scopes?

Side question, I say all, but are there any thermal scopes that dont have GPS, WiFi, recording, etc.....?

They don't put GPS on all thermal scopes. I personally don't know why they bother doing it. I don't know anybody with GPS on their thermal scope that uses the GPS for anything at all.

ATN puts GPS into their Thor and probably their handheld scopes. I don't know know of anyone else that does this.

Are their any that don't have GPS, Wifi, recording, etc.? Are you asking for a survey of all of the thermal optics currently being made? Here I would suggest you go to Google if you want to know about every little subtle feature. The two best scopes being made, Trijicon and N-Vision do not have GPS or Wifi, but do allow for external recording. Bering Optics has un-activated wifi at this point (not working), external recording, no GPS. Pulsar has internal recording (on most, not all), wifi, no GPS. FLIR doesn't make rifle scopes and has an anti-gun stance overall and I don't give a flip about any of their products anymore. AGM has wifi and allows for external recording, but no GPS.

Again, these are generalities. If you want to know about a particular model, google it. For example, the Pulsar RQX30V doesn't have the ability to record internally or externally and has no wifi or GPS. Some Axion models don't either.

Why do you ask?

Sig Sauer Echo3 doesn't have GPS, but it does have WiFi and BlueTooth to let it talk to Sig Sauer BDX laser range finders.

I personally don't know why they put GPS in them. But the wi-fi and blue tooth are handy to stream and record to another device etc...

Most people that buy these type scopes also buy them for their recording capability to film the hunt. Much easier thing to do when it's done via the scope vs having to have another recording device to record the hunt/shot.
