Walmart rifle closeouts

I am officially declaring this is becoming an addiction for me. Here ya go, number 4, a .243 Winchester Remington 700 ADL for $99. Scored it this morning :).

Jealous! That's what I really wanted, but the last one is on hold pending background check/waiting period for someone else. If I do end up getting the Axis, it'll be a nice consolation prize.

One of the perks of living in flyover country, that and being conveniently located 1,000 miles from all the fun places! Oh, we also have lots of deer :).

I'm also in "fly over" country, but our little farm towns don't all have a Walmart, and the ones that do are pretty spaced out... I may keep looking, but I ain't holding my breath.

None of the ones in my general area (30 miles each direction) have any closeout rifles left. Missed the 700ADL .223 by a couple days and the Leupold scopes by a couple hours at the last one that had any.

Walmart close to me have just put their 770's on sale for $190. Wonder how long it'll be before they drop the price again. Anybody have any input ?

Yesterday when I got up I checked the few rifles I had been watching, including this one and it was still $389. I went and did my workout at the Y and came home and was feeling tired so took a nape for 30 minutes before starting yard work and checked the rifles again and this one was then at $99! So I drive 22 miles to the store only to be told, yes it is here, no you cannot buy it today because nobody is here to sell it. Okay, when? I was told be at the store at 7 AM. So at 7AM I was at the counter, the lady walks up, scans my code and says she will be right back and comes back with my new $99 Remington 700! I think I am going to quit now. Up until a few weeks ago I only had three (CF) bolt guns, being more of a lever gun fellow, but now I have seven, is that enough? Even the Kimber I got was reduced at Gander! Oh, and the air rifle marked half off at Gander and before that three Benjamin 392 for $49. But there is this one I am still -------.
It's become an addiction for me also. It's fun hunting!

Rem 770s regular price at LGS was $200 so $190 would not be a clearance price to me, the wood stocked Axis is a smoother action, stock and scope. Everyone don't forget about the $50 rebate on the Axis.

Well, went back to Walmart today. Caught the sporting goods department manager right before he left. He didn't think they had the 243 Axis I talked with someone else yesterday about, got him to look it up and, lo and behold, it was there! He's wondering if they got a random shipment of the clearance rifles as they cleared them out because he though he sold all of theirs.

My background check went through with instant approval, likely due to my CCL as he said the other one he's seen instantly get approved lately also had a CCL while others have taken 5-6 days on average. So, around 4 PM on Thursday I'll have my new Savage Axis in my hands. Still would have preferred the Remington 700, but definitely can't complain for what I paid.

You get the rebate from Savage too!

Do you have a wait period in Illinois?

I rechecked one last time today. I didn't bother to ask since id probably be told what's in the case is what's for sale. Probably hiding or waiting on background checks

Found 1 more today . Remington 770 combo in 7mm Rem Mag $54. Only took an hour and 45 mins.... Took 30 mins for the guy to show up after being paged. Worth the wait I guess...

Once again it wasn't on display but tucked away in the back.

My father-in-law ran around to the local Walmarts, several showed rifles in stock on Brickseek. Everyone said they were out, so a disappointing result.

For my Axis, I ordered a Weaver 1 piece base ($10 Like New on Amazon), Bushnell Bone Collector Trophy 3-9x40 ($75), and picked up a set of Weaver Quad Lock rings. Definitely cheaper options than all my other rifles, but that was by design. With the rebate on the Axis, I will have spent right about $100 on my entire setup. I am going to get an M*Carbo spring kit for it, so that will bump it up to $125 or so all said and done. Not bad!

Just got lucky and scored an Axis heavy barrel .223 at the local Walmart for $79. It was on display but with the original price tag on it. I was out of town for several days but watched it on brickseek, figuring it wasn't there or was on hold. Decided to gamble my lunch hour on the off chance, sure enough it was there.

Once they found someone "qualified" to handle firearms, the transaction went quickly. I was out the door with time to spare. Already submitted my rebate online.

Quite a deal on a heavy barrel rifle with camo stock, accu-trigger and a (cheap) 4-12AO Bushnell scope.

Well, my rifle is going to have to wait. Wife tested positive for COVID, so we're on quarantine until Sept 2. Called WalMart to make sure it wouldn't be an issue waiting to pick it up, they said its a 30 day window so I should be fine.

We've all had minor cold symptoms the last day or so, I never got tested but I'm assumed positive since, ya know, same house and all. Wish I could have gotten it before the test result came back so I'd have a quarantine project, haha.

Sorry to hear about your wife's test. IL numbers have been going the right direction too.
Take care of yourself!

Well, not exactly a rifle, but I did score some clearance scopes today :)

Got:

Nikon Buckmasters II 3-9x40 for $30
Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40 for $54
and a Leupold Rifleman 4-12x40 for $69

The 3-9 Leupold I took without the box as they couldn't locate it but the clerk said he could just sell the bare scope at the listed price if I was ok with that.

Great score! I bought the 4-12x40 Leopold at $169 which was marked down.

Did the store already ring up your sale, or do you pay when picking it up. If the latter, the price may very likely drop again before you finalize the purchase. Might be the cheapest one yet!

Hasn't been rung up yet. I have a hard time seeing it dropping below $49, but who knows.

I need to call tomorrow because my out-of-quarantine date got pushed back to Sept 5 based on my first date of symptoms. Still well within 30 days, but just want to make sure they don't have any reason to put it back up for sale, like saying I didn't come in the day I said I would.

What, like did they stamp 666 on your forehead? How does Walmart know you may have been exposed? Frankly, I would have gone and got it, worn my mask and kept my social distance. My wife works as a nurse/respiratory therapist and has had several C19 patients but she follows precautions and I am not going to quarantine just because I live with her. People still get common colds, which are often Corona viruses themselves. I guess I not skeered of the beer flu appropriately.

This has got to be the most I've ever spent in a lifetime on sporting goods at Walmart. 2 Axis at $124 a piece, 2 slings $10, 1 Leupold base $10 (got a second at Academy), 2 sets of Weaver rings $10, 2 buttcuff shell holders $6, and now a Leupold 3-9x40 $54 and a Nikon 3-9×40 $30. Ordered a couple Harris bipods off Amazon to finish up 2 new semi-decent 30-06 rigs for no reason except they were darned cheap. I suppose there are worse ways to impulse spend $350. Thanks a lot for the help guys!
