Is there any way to fix a reticle if it no longer moves when adjusting the turrets? I have a scope that I really like, but I can't get the reticle to move.

Thanks for any suggetions.

Some companies such as Leupold will fix or replace your scope. With others you're on your own. What band of scope is it?

I'm rather happy with my Chinese scopes......

You can sometimes taken them apart and fix issues, but for the most part I'd write the scope off before ever starting work just because they are usually hard to get apart and the small screws strip out.

Bill M., it has been too long since I purchased it.

Anyway, for my two good rifles, I did eventually buy Nikon scopes, so I'm good on the scopes.....just wondered if a scope could be fixed if the turrets stopped doing what they're supposed to do.

Thanks for the replies.

It would cost you more to have it repaired then the scope is worth. Just go buy another cheap scope. Or buy an American scope for more money with a warranty behind it.

I have done that with the Nikon scopes. I was just wondering if the cheap scope could be fixed.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the input.

I bought an old Weaver 2x 22lr scope (with rings) for $2 because the cross hair was broken. Opened it up, soldered the cross hair back on and proudly walked away with a scope worth at least $3 now!

At $120 I would consider the Chinese scope junk. You might as well open it up and see what you can do with it!

Just fer grins I bought a $90 centerpoint off the rack at wm. Deer a 350 yards with an 06 no problem. 5 years runin and no issues.
I have a Centerpoint mounted on a 10-22. Had the barrel with scope mounted off of the stock cleaning it and accidentally knocked it off of the bench. It hit the floor scope first and it knocked the scope and mtg rings loose thought the scope was toast. Remounted the scope took it out and had to re zero it but it still worked as good as it did when it was new.

So I took it to Bass Pro. The Oculus company was that which offered the limited lifetime warranty. They're no longer in business, so their warranty no longer is valid.

So, it looks like I'll open it up and see what I can do with it, I guess.

Lifetime warranties are wonderful as long as the company does not go out of business.

That's a poor response from BassPro. I understand the manufacturer posted theit warranty, but Basspro endorsed and marketed it as their own.

A quick thought on the adjustments... Does it have a zero reset screw? A loose set screw would let the turrets turn without changing the actual zelo at all.

And sadly a lot of Chinese products are sold by "companies" that manufacture stuff for a year or two, then change names to a different company and keep on going. If you look at a lot of stuff - particularly electronics, the "brand" on them basically looks as if it's randomly generated because the name is disposable to them.

Note that its not as if the Chinese can't build a good scope - it's just that they don't seem to have any problem also turning out complete junk if people will buy it.

If you buy a scope made in China I'd say at least make sure it's got a company standing behind it that has been established for a while. Vortex for example makes some of their scopes in China but they've established themselves fairly well.

Do your turrets click, or is it a smooth turn? Also if you shake the scope, or take it and tap it in your other hand, does it rattle?

You knobs should have a centers free if your looking straight down on top of them...least that the most common form of attachment/rest screw, on cheap scopes.

LoonWulf.....yes, it has clicks when turning them. I've not noticed any rattles.
