Beretta 92 purchase

  1. A friend of mine has purchased a lot of guns from a local gun shop. Last week the GS owner called my friend and told him of a gun he purchased earlier that day. So my buddy Tom goes over and buys that gun which turns out to be a Beretta 92 F... $450 OTD with 2 genuine Beretta mags and 4 Meggars.. Apparently later that day GS owner calls Tom back with opportunity to buy a SIG 220 .45, again a buy from a customer of his. Tom runs back and buys the SIG for $500 OTD.. Tom calls me and tells me his gun purchase history for that day. Both guns are used but ANIB with factory paperwork. Beretta '87 birth and SIG around '90.
  2. Tom calls me next day and tells me he's blown his budget and wants sell Beretta to me for his purchase price. So I see the gun and Tom shows me receipt and says all he wants is the $450 and I buy it. He and I have traded and sold guns between each other for 35 years. Sometimes he bests me, sometimes I win.
  3. Sorry for long boring story. I've had 92 F's before and know of slide problems. A search of this site also provided a bunch more info. I gotta say gun looks unfired and has finish I remember on Italian Berettas from the past.

Nice score. Like others said just pick up an improved locking block and replace the existing one around the 3-5K mark. You should have no issues. For a long time I only had a older surplus 92 S but recently have picked up a 85B, a 82 Surplus and this LTT Compact.

The LTT is maybe the best DA/SA trigger I have ever had.

View attachment 936357 I found a diamond among all this crazy gun hoarding. I walked into a local store and found this brand new Beretta 92 Compact marked down from $699 . I got it for $424 out the door tax and all !!!!

Put LTT trigger job in a bag in it and you will have an amazing pistol at a steal of a price.

I have a 92S and it is accurate, love this gun. I put in excess of 400 rounds the first day I got it, and it ate everything I put through it. Blazer, federal Remington. If an old Beretta is this good how great is a new version? I almost bought a new Beretta but an RIA tach II 1911 caught my eye. I also love that gun, RIA makes a good gun. I’m rambling, sorry

This one is a 2017 model. Is there a more improved locking block ?

I was thinking about putting genuine Beretta wood checkered grips on my OP new to me gun. I also notice the guns posted in pics in this thread wear plastic. Is that strictly for better grip?

I've liked those guns ever since switching from the 1911 to the M9 in the USCG and to switching from the 681 to the 96d with OSHP.

guns 002.JPG guns 002.JPG I like the 40 round mag, just because it's not approved by the Dems..and even better if made illegal, I got 4 of these when the dems were in power and mag capacity was the talking points of the anti's...

For me, yeah, that and the size factor. I had some of the smooth (walnut?) factory wood grips w/medallion from Beretta; they definitely seemed to add just a smidge of width on to the grip and for sure, were just too smooth for me. Oh yeah, they looked awesome, but sold 'em, went back to the OEM plastic panels.

IMG_1484.jpg Personal choice. That choice is at least partially based on intended use.
This 92 is my steel plate competition / range gun. Very functional grips , good for feel and confidence.
I would have chosen something else if I were carrying this pistol.
