Talk to me about rings for this rifle -- what did you choose and why? I've not bought a set of rings in a long while and need recommendations.

I'll probably stick with a either an illuminated LPVO (1-6x24 or so, 30mm tube) or a classic 2-7x33 Redfield scope.

I did some scope swapping and mounted a 3-9x42 (1” tube) using Warne medium rings to my 350 Legend. They’re sufficient, used many over the years with good results. Now the last two sets of rings I used before that were Burris Signatures on a Model 70 in 30-06 and an Encore muzzleloader. I would recommend either plus Talley and TPS.

What cartridge?

On my 450, I’m going to use the same Weaver Grand Slams I used on my 444 Marlin. They seem pretty tough and for me, they mount easier than Warne and give up little to Talley. Plus I’d have to take the Weaver base off the rifle to mount Talleys.

I do lap mine though since I have the tools.

Weaver rings will work, the quadlocks carried at any Walmart are as functional as anything. I think the Burris rings look nicer and aren't terribly expensive. They make them for 1" and 30mm tubes.

I like Talley lightweights too on some rifles. But since the Ruger comes with a rail, and with a closed top action I see no reason to take the rail off.

I stuck a big ole 50mm objective 3.5 x 10 scope on my .450 BM because I had it laying around. Not enough clearance with low rings so I found some Weavers in the archives. Not sure if they are medium or high. This scope looks huge on the rifle but I don't care and I don't think the deer will either. I'll see how it shoots this weekend

300blk, it'll mostly be used for plinking with light cast bullet loads.

1. Get the correct ring diameter for your scope.
2. Get the right height.

After that it's a matter of preference and budget.

The last four scopes I've mounted have all used Leupold Rifleman rings. On my new RAR 300 Blackout I'll use.....Leupold Rifleman rings.

For a cheap ring the Leupold riflemans are decent. Just wish they had torx screws.

Have had a couple pairs. Everything else Burris Zee rings of some flavor.

Think if I build a Ruger #1 it will wear an EGW base and non QD Warnes.

If theyd contour the ears of the rifleman rings that make em look better.

I thought about doing that to a pair. But Brownells out of Gunkote.

Like aluminum rings. They dont mark up a scope. My 760 had the rifleman lows swapped to steel Burris lows. Tried to make it look a little nicer.

The riflemans worked fine though. Bucked out two yrs in a row w em

I've already seen two ring sets that I'd vouch for in this thread. The vertical split Warnes seen on Skylerbone's Ranch Rifle are a favorite of mine. Got them on a CZ-455 .22 and a.257 Weatherby Vanguard. The Weaver Quadlocks on Bandit67's Ranch Rifle would get my vote for the best budget rings. My sporterized Swedish Mauser has had its 3.5-10x Leupold in a set of those for at least 6 years now. In the last year I've purchased 2 sets of Vortex Hunter rings. One pair for the mini scope I put on a Savage Rascal and one pair holding down a 4-12x Redfield on a Henry Single Shot. So far these would get a thumbs up from me, also.. The Warnes & Quadlocks have appeared in this thread already but here's the Vortex Hunters on the Henry. - IMG_9043.JPG ..And they can even be found securing an inexpensive 4x NcStar compact scope on a dimunitive Savage Rascal .22 - IMG_1237.JPG ..

Thank you all for the input! I love the Warne vertical split (also have them on a CZ), but since this is a budget build, I bought a set of the low Leupold Rifleman since they are USA made and $16. I got a Fujinon Accurion 1.75-5x32 scope on eBay for $100, so I should have a sweet little setup. The scope + rings come in at 14.5oz, added to a 5.1lb rifle brings the total up to about 6lb. Probably another lb with a leather sling and the Witt Machine SME lightweight that will ride on the threads.

I'm mostly a Leupold guy but I have zero experience with Leupold Rifleman rings. My go-to budget rings are those Weaver Quadlocks but I've always wondered about the Leupold Riflemans. Currently have some of the more expensive Leupold PRW rings for Weaver / Picatinney bases on two different rifles and an Encore handgun. Considered the Rifleman rings for budget use but never tried 'em yet. Could we get a real world report on those rings? They look as if they may be feasible for budget projects.

I use the vertical splits pretty regularly, so far no real issues. They are just cheap aluminum rings, but generally do what they are supposed to.
Heh....the rings keeping my Midas BTR on my carbon barreled 6.5, are Leupy rifleman's. I'll probably buy nicer rings when I decide for sure what scope I'm using.

I’ve purchased and used several brands of rings in the $100 and up club in the past. Going forward, for anything that does not require specialty rings I’m sticking with Burris. IMO they are the best rings made up to that $100 price point and they manage that for under $40. No more ring marks, no more crimped tubes, no more lapping (which I was just about to dive into).

I hope the Leupold rings work out for you, I’m admittedly not a fan of their rings short of the Mark Series, but let us know.

Well, I have to walk back the USA made bit...apparently that's gone by the wayside...

That is a bummer -- I'm not too thrilled that they abandoned USA manufacture, it seems like I may as well have ordered some $8 Chinese rings.

the vertical splits I use ARE made in china I think.......None of the cheap rings are made in the US anymore. I THINK weaver Grand Slams still are, but you gotta to the Burris, or Steel Leupy price range to get made in the us otherwise.

I mounted up the scope today, and it seems to be secure, and looks nice. Unless there are issues, I'd say the rings work fine.

I use Warne quick detach on nearly everything. With the American, you'll want to use a step lower ring than usual because the factory base is so tall. So lows instead of mediums and mediums instead of highs.
