The only 22 rf left at the chain stores around here is 22 short blanks.

The small stores have some... at ~400% of what is was selling for at the chain stores 6 months ago.

"The only 22 rf left at the chain stores around here is 22 short blanks."

I do have a .22 revolver. .22 short blanks and #3 or #4 buckshot can be "muzzleloaded" in the chambers. But only as last resort survival.

Ramset 0.22 Caliber Yellow Single Shot Powder Loads

I was thinking more along the lines of the traditional .22 Short starter gun blanks with buckshot as emergency only..
Even then I think the starter blanks or power loads might be more erosive than regular gunpowder.

I have maybe 3000 rnds of 22lr on hand. Considering that I have shot maybe 500 rnds of it in the last several years I think it should last me. For some reason I must be the only guy that hardly ever shoots 22lr. Now that might change if I end up with one of the Glock 44's I have been looking for.

I still see shorts for sale from the likes of sgammo. I know I am the rare goober that has a rifle actually chambered for shorts, but revolvers, lever, single shots and bolts will take them without a fuss. In my experience, the CCI hvhp shorts are quite effective on small game to 50 yards.

I don't suspect you are that rare of a goober. I have a bunch of guns that will take shorts and I get a sleeve of CCI HP most anytime I can if the price is reasonable. As you say, they are quite serviceable for small game and vermin pests at short to medium range. Paper, cans, bottles and steel don't know the difference. Quieter, too; at least a little.

I will gladly buy a whole brick of shorts if I see them at a fair price.

Figured my two 50 CAL ammo cans full of loose .22 ammo was plenty. Then gunny ups the anti.:D Still think i'll be OK though as I only used half a can during the "O" years........still a Rem bucket full would be a nice addition.
That's exactly what I have, 2/.50's full and a rem bucket. I should have upped my .22lr game. I focused my "Hoarding" on 9mm and 5.56.

I bought a case (10 bricks) of CCI std velocity last year. I still have most of it.

I also bought 20 lbs of powder in February. I should have bought another 15K of primers but I got caught napping. Just going to have to ride this one out I guess. :D

Shoot a lot of prairie dogs with 22 LR pistols. After eventually getting too many solids I bought a Neal Waltz die and HP most of it myself. Great system really

I stopped by Dunham's sports today looking for 22 shorts. They had around 10 or so 100 round boxes of shorts and 10 or so boxes of mags. No lr or longs. The shorts were $10.99 box Remington gold. That's probably high but I don't know, it's been so long since I bought any. No other handgun ammo.

I'm well supplied in 22 rimfire. During the last shortage, I was low on 22 Mag, but fixed that. The only 22LR I might be interested in buying is the higher end target stuff as I have lots of mid-range standard velocity LR on hand. 223.... probably could use 1000 rounds but I don't shoot it much and that will last me a pretty good while. The 223 would fall more in line with SHTF prep or insurance for uncertain times.

I didn't even know there was an inventory shortage..... I seldom even look at ammo in stores as I have a pretty good stash.

Just picked up a Ruger LCP 2 in .22 cal

Ruger recommends a high velocity round, which after looking around the internet, is petty scarce right now.

Haven't bought any .22 in a while because I have plenty of the standard velocity stuff.

How long has this been going on?

Well, the ammo shortage went on for the eight years of the Obama regime, the Obama-DEMic Shortage, and now it has been going on since the Wuhan Flu, the Pan-DEMic Shortage, which began about the time all of the toilet paper left the shelves. Twenty two ammo is available most places, just got be there. That LCP likes Min-Mags, so you will just need to be diligent. The "professional" resellers have shown back up like roaches from all the cracks when the lights go out, so that is driving some of the shortages.

Wonder if Wally World has it..they still carry it..might ask son to go check(still quarantined..old fart married to old fart)..
Post From June, but son just yesterday(September 7, 2020) bought 600r of CCI MiniMag at wallyworld..$8 per 100 rounds.
