The quick and the dead with Hackman and Sharon Stone.

shot in the balls...

with such a good cast you would think it would be a better movie. Although Sharon still isn’t shy.

Damn, I miss stars like Sammy Davis Jr... He always brought a smile to my face.. When I was younger, I kinda took dancers/singers like
that for granted. Now I realize how unique and wonderful he was ...

Yeah is’t a shame. If it wasn’t for that dang Einstein we might have kept time and space separated and figured out how to keep the things we like.
Gettin’ old is another one we take for granted. It bites.

I’m watching a 1959 movie “The Oregon trail “ set in 1847 or 8. Stars Fred MacMurry. There is a scene where a guy shows fred the first revolver he has seen. He explains it was made by Colt and demonstrates the gun. I am not familiar enough to know but I think it’s a walker. Don’t know if the dragoon was being produced yet.
Scene is at 50:30 minutes or so.

ps. The way the guy slings his gun makes me wonder if they used a dragoon as it is lighter ?

Looks like a Colt Walker. Maybe Whitneyville Dragoon.

Besides the great cast, story line, and settings (too bad it wasn't in color), I think what I liked most about Red River (along with his similarly brilliant performance in The Searchers), was that John Wayne wasn't playing his usual "good guy" role. His characterizations in both films was of a much darker, much more antisocial persona.

I think antisocial persona is a tad to hard, I attributed his persona to his hardheaded pioneer spirited desire to make it happen and never asking for help. So now as the years rolled by he still is certain he is right and its his way or the highway.. hmm its not really a highway more a prairie-way in this case.. Also if the report of the railroad being in the town was wrong. The duke would have been right to have been so doubtful and we would be cheering on the stringing up of Montgomery Clift for killing all the cattle and ruining all the ranchers down in Texas..

I do believe that Sammy was Hollywoods fastest draw......the guy was good with guns.
If you watch anyone doing stunts with sixguns, you’ll see every thing that Ojala taught the stars of the 50’s and not much more. And none of them do it with a Dragoon, let alone a Walker...

Just learned that there is a new version (2020) of The Call Of the Wild with Harrison Ford. The trailer looked good.

Saw that version, I liked it alot, mucho different from the book and other versions.. but how do you dislike a good Dog flick with gold panning and bad guys with guns..

onyx and George. George hates my gun. My profile pic is onyx sleeping upside down exposing her teeth. I took a pic , flipped it, and pasted crazy eyes on her but she is really a sweetheart. And can they pull ! Mush !
Here is my gun when I bought the conversion cylinder and I was trying to convey an idea of how large the round is , to a friend.

The Unforgiven.
Great movie and a good example of why relics and antiques and things like black powder guns are so cool.
Bill Munny passes out of memory very quickly as do most of us, but things like my revolver, if taken care of, tend to endure.

I like Gunless 2010
