I just wanted to share some of the "original production" scoped SKS rifles I have. First one is a Yugo SKS DMR. This rifle was originally imported with a PU-style base but reversed from your standard Russian. Have never been able to find another one like it so I assume its some sort of ON-2 prototype or ON-52 SKS base. Contrary to popular belief, Local Yugo Arsenals did scope some SKSs, mostly with ON-2 scopes cammed in 7.62x39 to fufill the spotter role on their m76 sniper teams. estimates say there were around 200 ever made and most were destroyed in their civil war. I took a regular PU base and modified it to fit this yugo one then used a commercial Russian PU type scope till i get my hands on an ON-52 scope. The 2nd is a late 80s Kengs/Polytech import with a BZM-1 Illuminated Scope and mount. I dont really know what to make of this one but im leaning to it being an original thing because the stock appears to have been factory cut, and the mounting rail is riveted on in the same fashion that a lot of the Polytech AKs that had scope mounts on their sides were. However, scoped SKS imports didnt really start showing up in catalogues till the Early 90s with Navy Arms selling most of them.

Thanks for sharing TBear. I don't believe that I have ever seen a factory scoped SKS. I would love to have one in the collection. I just have a couple plain Jane Norincos and my son's Yugo. Not sure how this thread got burried and hence no other replies. Must have been a fluke because I think they are very Sweet!

That scope is interesting as is the mounting system.
I am guessing the horizontal short bars subtense a man shoulder to shoulder at various ranges and note the ones actuall lower on the verticle centerline seem to match that idea as they get shorter down the line.

I am guessing the main horizontal line is a mil scale set up for the east block 6000 mil system rather than the US 6400 system.

It would be very useful for an observer for calls for fire and range estimation against know target vehicles.

A Plane Jane shooter might find the view a bit crowded, but a trained Sniper Scout could certainly make good use of it.

Nice rifle and stuff.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

If you could talk to us about and send more pictures of the two scopes and mounts. Which scope has that view, or do both?

I bought a AK/SKS scope rail similar to it probably 10 yrs ago thinking to add it to one of my SKS but decided not to drill and tap the receiver, ended up with a railed cover, with 4 set screws to secure to receiver, and use a light weight mini scope. Happy with it!

Certainly an interesting find! I don't recall hearing anything about a factory scoped version. There were an awful lot different modifications coming through in the late 80's so it's probably anyone's guess who may have added the optic. I am a bit perplexed as to why it's mounted so far to the rear. I would think it would be difficult to aim with good form in field positions without serious risk of getting scoped. Probably fine in prone or on a sled maybe?

I recently sold an SKS rear cover with an integral scope mount and Chinese scope and rings.

The cover was stamped with a triangle and the number 26 inside it, which is the Norinco factory sign, so an OEM part.

I saw the PU modified type, as well as one modified to take a Soviet AK style optic over there, possibly night vision. The optic was trashed beyond recognition on that one due to a fire hot enough to melt the aluminum components. It was more common to find civilian sporting rifles and military mausers fitted with various optics and mounting systems from old German or Austrian claw style mounts to modern Weaver, Leupold, Zeiss, Swarovski systems. Some of them were gunsmith/armorer quality, some were Bubbavich grade including welds in places that shouldn't be welded.

It works just fine for me, SKS rifles have hardly any recoil (in my opinion) havent scoped myself yet haha.

The scope on the yugo has typical PU-style posts, and the BZM-1 scope on the chinese is the fancy one. ill get some more pictures one of these days.

Bubbavich

Love it.

Eastern Europe is an interesting place. My brother spent some time in Croatia and he said there was deer stands and blinds everywhere. Ive heard there is phenomenal duck hunting in some areas but most of it is leased by rich Italians. Sounds like the delta region of the states!!

Always nice to see something rare and different in regards to the sks
I have an original Navy Arms sks, with original scope and mount. I Beleive Navy arms once received these, they are the ones who installed the scope
