Boredom has overtaken me. My house arrest doesn’t end til end of the week. Punishment for traveling to Nevada on Business Trip. Governors orders. Anyhow broke out the crossbow. New bolts delivered today. Full inspection of the bow, waxed all the string, and new battery in the green dot.

First problem was remembering how to cock the bow if that’s what you call it. Figured it out. Next was bolt placement. Got it. Then shoot it. It certainly shoots those bolts fast. It’s a Barrett Jackal. Can’t remember exactly why I got it, but seems to shoot nice. Not exactly high end. But works.

I guess I just got it to see how it worked and have some backyard fun. Hard to shoot, whenever I go outside my Lab whines at the door because he wants to be outside and play. Of course I want to shoot my crossbow without impaling my best buddy.

Crossbow experts, is my model enough for hunting?

Have the exact same crossbow. I got it a couple years ago as I was looking for something to plink bolts with. Overall it's an entry level crossbow with 150 lbs of draw weight. The bolts do come out fast though at 315 feet per second speed. That should be enough to hunt a good number of 4 legged friends with. Maybe not big game like Elk, Moose or Bear though.

Not an expert but if I can snuff deer with a recurve, then that bow and the nut behind it is by all means adequate and then some.

My other bow is an Excalibur Matrix crossbow. A step or two up from yours but I wouldnt say it is a ton better.

My dad has a Barnett and he has shot a few deer with it.

I do like those rocket assisted crossbows..

Worked on one in the back yard once.. But by the time I worked up to 5 arrows at a time, my dear bride stepped in and let me know if I ever wanted to see her naked again, I would need to stop.. :(

Probably not the 1st time a woman's breast has held back science or stopped someone from losing their eye...
