I had quite a bit of ammo on hand but with covid I have had more free time to shoot. Burned through a bit of what I had, went to order some factory and find that 9mm and 45 acp is sold out as fast as they list it. Plus the prices make me think it is 2012 all over again. So time to fire up the presses and start reloading again.
The two I am low on bullets for are 9mm and 45. I have used a few different mfg but rocky mountain reloading and Missouri bullet have interested me.
Suggestions?

You're gonna find out that reloading components are as scarce as factory ammo. My suggestion (and current practice) is take what you can get when you can get it. Hopefully you've got some leftovers when it comes to primers and certain powders.

RMR and Missouri are both good people, and I've never been disappointed by either. I would add Gallant Bullets.

Any way you cut it, be prepared to wait.

Rocky Mountain Reloading manufactures their own jacketed bullets that are used by ELEY so you are buying "ELEY match grade" bullets at bulk pricing - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...or-their-new-line-of-match-ammunition.854750/

They are currently showing 8 weeks backlog and members have been receiving bullets within the time frame. Compared to other jacketed bullets, RMR bullets are very consistent in nose profile/ogive to produce more consistent OAL and have weight variance less than other jacketed bullets. RMR bullets are my current reference bullet of choice for load development and accuracy testing.

Missouri Bullet Company manufactures 12/18 BHN lubed lead and Hi-Tek coated lead bullets and I have been happy with their lead/coated lead bullets. They are currently showing 6-8 weeks backlog and members have been receiving bullets within the time frame.

RMR and MBC are true "mom and pop" operations incubated right here on THR and both have gone national with reputation for great customer service and continue to offer 5% THR discount (PM members for the code).

Been happy with Zcast, both old ownership and current: https://www.jacobeagle.com/bullets
Z-Cast manufactures 14-16 BHN lubed lead bullets in limited selection but softer alloy allows bullet base deformation/expansion even with lighter target loads to seal with the barrel and I have been happy user of their 9mm/40S&W/45ACP bullets.

If your barrel has shorter leade, their "stepped" 9mm RN is a good choice as many other casters have switched to "non-stepped" RN profile that must be loaded short like around 1.080" to clear the start of rifling. With my 9mm barrel with almost no leade, Z-Cast "stepped" RN loaded to typical 1.125" OAL works fine priced at $29/500 - https://www.jacobeagle.com/product-page/9mm-124-grain-rn-500-count

For 45ACP, my favorite is 200 gr SWC for $36.50/500 - https://www.jacobeagle.com/product-page/45-acp-200-grain-swc-500-count

They are currently showing 1-3 weeks backlog.

BTW, here's a listing of various component manufacturers/vendors for reference - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/vendors.868425/

I checked with www.midwayusa.com on Missouri bullets and right now if you order 2000, 147 grain, 9mm flat top High Tech you can still get them by 30 days. All other 9mm bullet delivery is six weeks. Free shipping, 2000 minimum, $179.00 plus tax. I was able to order 2000, 124 grain RN back in July and it took exactly 30 days and they were shipped 2 day air thru USPS. Any way I was surprised how well they shoot with just a little dust to clean out the barrel. Use lead recipes when loading.

Midway has been shipping way faster than their stated lead times. However if those bullets aren’t shipping from Midway then the 30 days may be closer to correct

i just talked to these guys: https://www.bearcreeksupplybullets.com/

they have 9mm and 45acp bullets, but you need to call them for availability of a specific bullet. i have used bear creek bullets for about ten years now and have nothing but good results.

luck,

I have used thousands of powerbonds and precision delta but availability has been an issue, I have primers and powder so that part is covered. I like 124 gr.as my pistols seem to be accurate with them.
I like the mom & pop operations even if slightly slower. The buy local, spend local feel has always been big with me and that's why RMR and MB interested me.

I just placed an order with Missouri yesterday; was told to expect 6-8 weeks for delivery, which is fine by me.

I use and like MBC and Brazos Precision. My most recent MBC order took 6 weeks to arrive. My current Brazos order may take just as long. Good thing I'm just bolstering my stock!

For the past few years I have bought nothing but RMR Bullets for jacketed bullets and Missouri Bullets for cast bullets. I'm very happy with both and see no reason to change now. The prices are good and the owners are very easy to deal with. They are honest and respectful.

I purchase from several suppliers just so I’m not single sourced. It’s a bit more work and you’ll need to do load workup for each one but it’s proved useful for me. Definitely use RMR, but I also have Bayou and Blue Bullets on the list. In a pinch Midway has plated bullets as well. Good luck!

A couple of bullet vendors not yet mentioned are Bayou Bullets, Summit City Bullets, Everglades and Northeast Target.

I have pretty much standardized on RMR bullets for many of my loads. I like the 115 or 124gn plated 9mm bullets for most of my handgun plinking ammo. I really like the 9mm RN FMJ for my 16" carbine, and they work really well in handguns, too. For 45, most of what I shoot are the 200gn RN plated from them as well.

I have not ordered anything from them since the COVID crap started, as I was well stocked up before that hit, and I have not shot as much, either. I see where their lead time is 8 weeks right now, which is not bad, all things considered.

And don't forget the THR discount with RMR.

Bayou has a bullet I like but they are getting further and further behind. Will I get my orders at 5-6 weeks as posted when I ordered or at 8-12 weeks as they show now?

I hit on a Gallant coated bullet I liked, but now they are only making a few of the most common types... not including my 200 gr .45 roundnose.

I caught suitable bullets in stock at Xtreme. Ten day delivery of 3/4 of the order and eventual delivery of the rest.
I have tried them again.

I plan to keep bullets on order until I have more bullets than primers. Then wait out the manufacturers.

I order 9mm from RMR and 45 from MBC with the understanding that shipping will be delayed, as it is from all suppliers I'm aware of. Every once in a while I come home to a box of bullets, like I did today. I'd accept the fact that everyone's back ordered, place the order and wait. That's quicker than waiting for supply to catch up, which may be a while.
