CZ A01-LD: Your Impressions

Hi. I found this thread searching for issues with the CZC A01. I bought the A01 Compact yesterday from CZ Customs since they're a few miles from me. After shooting about 75 rounds, as the gun starts to get really hot, I end up getting light primer strikes. It becomes more frequent the hotter it gets. I stopped by CZ Custom today and they changed the firing pin spring and tested a magazine through it. No issues so I'm off to the range. No issues after the first 100 rounds. As I start the 101 and onward, guns really hot, light primer strikes again. So, the A01 Compact is back with CZ Customs. This time, I saved the rounds. Strange thing is, it only happens when it's hot. I noticed you mentioned that below so I thought I'd chime in.

Other that this hiccup, it's a great gun and a ridiculously soft shooter. Stewart with CZ Customs has been great and tried to help me while I waited but this issue will take more testing. Hopefully, they can convert it to SAO and add an extended left safety while it's there.

Funny you should ask. I shot it on Saturday. The first magazine had several malfunctions with the dead trigger again. Like maybe 4 or 5 out of 18. Second magazine maybe one or two. Then it was 100%.

I have tried several times now to see if it’s one magazine but I have a new theory. I think what MIGHT be happening is there’s a slightly out of speck part. As the gun heats up the metal expands and the parts then interact the way they should but won’t when cold.

However this seems ridiculous to me. I’m likely going to send it back again.

When it’s operating properly it’s great but I can’t ignore this.

However, this is one example. I wouldn’t base your decision on my one gun.

Sorry you’re having troubles too. Mine will be going back next month for a second trip home.

Hmmmm.... this gives me pause. I’ve been looking at buying an A01 LD with the optic cut after watching some positive reviews. Even sourced 3 CZ P10F/P09 magazines already, the gun intrigued me because I can run it in USPSA Carry Optics, Production, or Limited (depending on configuration). Plus the magazines will work in the A01, P10C, P10F, P09, P07, and full size Dan Wesson DWX when it ever releases.

Probably still going to do it, but frustrating to hear people having trouble.

Also 460 researching CZ trigger issues, if the problem hasn’t been resolved yet you might have a trigger bar spring that isn’t adjusted or seated correctly. If it’s not flush with the inside of the frame and/or the legs aren’t putting positive upward pressure on the trigger bar you could be getting a dead trigger from certain magazines external dimensions interfering. Good luck.

is there an update on the OP's gun? i have several czs. 85, pcr, sp01, p10c and p10f, shadow 2, 97B and a since traded 75b.

the only issues i have had were with the first magazine on my p10c with failure to feed which disappeared by the 2nd magazine. the most serious was the jamming of my 97b with my reloads due to the length of the bullet (fixed with seating the bullet deeper ) and intermittent difficulty in insertion of a full mag in the 97b but otherwise no mechanical issues.

it's amazing how problematic this gun has been especially for something so expensive.

If I'm a gun company that wants to survive in a very competitive venue, I certainly would not want any of my products returned for fixing because they weren't working right. Once a firearm has been returned the first time around, as bad as that is, there's no excuse whatsoever for sending the gun back to the customer and it still not be working right. Experiences like that tend to leave bad tastes in the mouth that don't go away any time soon.

i have to amend this , i just came back from my cz 97b's either 3rd or 4th range session only. i tried drifting the factory rear sight and it came loose where i can move it with thumb and index finger. there is no set screw to tighten. i have to look for a replacement sight but i don't really consider this a mechanical problem but it still renders the gun useless.
