I’m confused about my recently purchased, used, Glock 21. It appears to me that it will not take new Glock 21 magazines, even though it is a dual slide release frame. The one magazine that came with this G21 is not a dual slide release magazine, it’s a single side release magazine. This old single-side magazine also has a cut out in the front & top area which locks it into the frame/grip. The new magazines don’t have this cut out. The new Glock magazines are supposed to work in all the Glock 21 generations but they don’t work in mine!

So what gives, what am I missing here? Why does the old—single sided release—with a mystery cut out work, but new dual release magazines don’t work. Please see pics and thanks for your help. 4C27DCF9-F8E9-4C44-83BC-9D0551C0F7F9.jpeg 707B5504-F541-486F-9C7E-347B5EB278B3.jpeg BEE4F2AF-3FFD-4281-8901-5E3ED74956FD.jpeg 4C27DCF9-F8E9-4C44-83BC-9D0551C0F7F9.jpeg 707B5504-F541-486F-9C7E-347B5EB278B3.jpeg

Need more help please, I went to the Glock website to try and send an email (to their address in GA) but their email address doesn’t work, that is, I have a yahoo email address and their server says, basically, that Glocks email address in invalid, that it’s undeliverable.

Glocks address is “[email protected]
There’s no .com or .net or dot anything attached to this Glock email address. I did try adding a “.com” to the end of it but that doesn’t work either!

I also left a voicemail message on their customer service phone line but I seriously doubt I’ll hear back. Anyone got another email address or contact information for Glock USA?

Thanks again

What do you need to talk to Glock about? Are you going to try to send in your frame for a replacement with the non-ambi version?

yes, I was going to see if they will replace the frame

This ambi mag release has to be one of the dumbest Glock features I’ve heard of, and there are plenty. But magazine interchangeability is one of the reasons I shoot Glocks. If Glock replaces the frame that will fix the problem, but another idea is to trade the 21SF for a Gen4 21, a lefty shooter might just want that ambi mag release.

They won't replace a frame. Your option is to find magazines that work or sell the gun. No manufacturer is going to replace the frame on a gun unless there's an obvious warranty issue.

Apparently they’ve done it before if the threads I linked to are to be believed. I doubt they will either. I’d personally just get some of the mags with the proper cut.

But where do you get correct magazines? They don’t give you a choice on which G21 mag to buy, at least I have not seen different versions available. There’s just one version, and it’s advertised as fitting all models

Buy from sellers who show pics of the front of the mag with a cutout, and offer to trade the mags you have with someone who doesn’t care about the ambi cutout? I’d give Greg Cote LLC a call and tell him what you’re looking for. If anyone can sort you out he can.

They certainly will if there's a warranty issue--a defect in materials or workmanship--in fact, in that situation they have an obligation to do so. But they are not going to do it just because a customer wants a different gun.

what is a Glock 21 MB, what makes it different than the Standard or SF?
The MB models are the way they called the fully ambi magazine release models.
I think Glock produced tons of Glock 21 magazines with the front cutout. Glock 17 and 19 magazines were also produced with the front cutout for years, even if the MB models weren't popular at all.
As said I'd keep that pistol and search some MB magazine online and in the gun shows.

Glock will replace your ambi frame because there have been several issues with the ambi magazine releases. However, the new frame with have a different serial number and you will have a "non-matching" gun. I recently picked up a police trade in 21SF not knowing about the magazine issue. I contacted Glock and they told me I could send my frame in for replacement. However, it needed to be sent overnight and, because I live in PA, it had to be shipped back to an FFL and not directly to me. I didn't want to go through the hassle (I only paid $315 for the gun). I bought three new magazines and made a template to mark the new mags where the front cut out is. I then carefully used an exacto knife to cut out the rectangle. I have inserted, ejected and fired a few hundred rounds from these magazines without issue.
