I don't think I've shot my SP2022 in at least three or four years, usually taking a more recent purchase with me to shoot. I bought this pistol used from Gunbroker probably eight or ten years ago. I've always liked this gun and usually shoot well with it (although shooting well is relative of course).
Last fall I bought a Canik TP9 Elite SC at a gun show as a spur-of-the moment purchase. It appears to be well made and nicely machined. I shoot OK with it, but only had it out once before winter and covid hit. So more recently I've been watching YT videos reviews of guns and seeing Canik's TP9SFX which is their competition ready variation. It has a 5.2 inch barrel and fiber optic front sight and is machined to accept red dot sights. These Canik TP9 pistols are polymer, striker fired guns for those who may not be familiar. The triggers on these are considered to be excellent, for striker fired pistols. I ended up getting a TP9SFX because it is a 'competition' model. I don't shoot competitively but I'm thinking that the longer barrel and whatnot may improve my shooting. Wrong. I don't shoot any better with either Canik than I do with my other 9mm pistols. Except my SIG 2022. Today I took my gen. 1 Springfield XDm and the SP2022 to the range. I did OK with the XDm, actually better than I do with the Caniks, but that 2022 is the star of the show. I shot way better with it than the XD or the Caniks. I really want to like the Caniks. They're good looking pistols and the triggers are exceptional for striker fired. They could easily sell for hundreds more than they do. But so far they just don't work for me as well as that old SP2022. That really is the best of my bunch in my hands.
