Is it just me or has anyone noticed that between yesterday and today the number of guns available has significantly decreased in the last 24 hours?

I made a purchase a Grabagun for a Beretta APX in 40S&W and a full length barrel for 388.00 yesterday. Only to find out today that they closed the order because the gun was not available??? Was looking around yesterday and that specific handgun was available at several stores (sportsmans, Gunbuyer, as well as on gun.deals. Today that firearms is not available for purchase anywhere. I even looked for the 9mm version of the APX, no joy.

I started looking for online firearms at the big 3 (buds, Grabagun, Gunbuyer), and today their inventory is way more reduced than yesterday..... Significantly.

I know people are saying, it's the riots, the virus, and an election year. But up until 2 days ago, there were significantly more guns in stock. Today, only a handful remain. And as I was looking for 40S&W, it looks like I'm out of luck.

I have a feeling Beretta hasn't made that model in a while or stopped making it. It was listed on Bass Pro Shops for clearance at $130 but never came back in stock. Now all I can find are 9mm APXs

Bingo. It made me start thinking about body armor. Then I realized that I basically don't leave the house these days and it would be a waste of money.

Most places that you could get it seem to have a lead time of 10-12 weeks at least.

I've had the same thoughts and came to the same conclusions

The death of RBG and the subsequent threats to “burn it down” seem to have amped up an already wild situation
Funny you mentioned that. I was just discussing that with my daughter who mentioned that as another potential cause for the sudden spike in sales. Unfortunately politics and compromise from each side has gone out the window and picket lines seem like they are starting to go up. Lets hope it's just bluster like tropical storm beta.

LMAO, very true, but that being the case, you may want to start preparing your house like Will Smith did in I Am Legend. A literal fortress in the city.

I couldn't even find those. Where'd you see them in stock? Of course the full length one.

I doubt if RBG's death had anything to do with it. If anything this means a 6-3 conservative-liberal court in the near future and will be good for gun owners regardless of how the November election turns out.

I've actually seen more guns start to show up at local stores. Ammo is still spotty, but out there.

Probably 5-4, Roberts is quite unreliable.

I agree though, I've been seeing more ammo and guns showing up both online and locally over the past week or two. Now if only some primers would show up at my usual spots I'd really be in business.

It's the riots that will happen on the way that are concerning.

It is just sellers accepting orders for stuff they don't have. It has always been like that, just that lately the predicted/expected orders due them are not arriving. No modern business sits on inventory, it is all about placing orders, shipping times, and getting the items out to buyers or on the floor. The demand to producers is too high right now so it messes up that concept and the timelines. No secret stuff involved, just time and reality In most retail situations orders are placed months ahead of time (for guns think Shot Show). In current times it is merely a hope and a prayer that they will actually receive something. It will get far worse before it gets better.

I've come across a couple locally at stores. Bass Pro has them all in 9mm listed for $350, just out of stock. You can always add them to your wishlist so you'll be notified when they come back.

A few months ago I saw a two day period where everything seemed to disappear. It came back to it’s new normal - low level pretty quick.

As far as ammo goes, 40 S&W is still hanging on better than any other caliber. Between Target Sports and SGammo, there’s 14+ different flavors available. Of course they’re almost double the price of pre WuFlu.

Funny, prior to all this used one's were cheap and easy to come by. I never considered owning one because 9mm and 45acp are so much more popular. Now, I wish I would have bought a few used models. Oh well, live and learn.

One of the largest firearms wholesaler/distributor has over 2,000 handgun models listed on their website for local gun stores to order. Actual number of handgun models available; 18. They have over 2,700 long guns listed. Excluding bolt action there are only 42 rifle models available. Not a single pump action shotgun is available to order. There is an unprecedented shortage of firearms available to purchase. Almost every caliber of ammunition is unobtainable to sell to consumers. The situation is serious for citizens who are now realizing that For the first time in their lives they need to purchase a firearm in the event they must protest themselves.

Holy cow! I knew about ammo, but had no idea how thin distributor inventory of guns was.

Strange how it seemed like yesterday that 40 S&W suddenly became so unpopular a glut of them at stupid low prices flooded the market.

Wasn't long before that 9mm was denigrated, unpopular, and cheap.

Maybe a year or two ago, you could hardly give away an AR. Buy two lowers, get one free deals all over the place.

Times change, opportunities arise.

I'm leaning toward it wasn't the death of RBG or anything that's happened in the last day or two.
A couple of shop owners I spoke to this weekend told me availability from their distributors has been getting progressively worse. And their racks and cases are showing it.

People who suggest that "The sky is falling!" must include many of the handguns which owners really want to sell Now.
If I were wanting to beat the huge future oversupply, I would also claim, or imply that "They're coming to get us!!":what:"...they Said So!"....

The more seasoned, level-headed gun owners anticipate a probable huge glut of used handguns sometime next year (?), when vast numbers of first-time buyers decide to dump their unneeded "heaters" for cash.

I've seen quite a number of 9mm, .40 or .45 handguns in two retail shops (new items, not the much cheaper used) which don't seem to sell. About a week ago.
A good selection of similar types which I keep spotting on Armslist TN have been on display for weeks, and asking prices are often similar to retail used prices.

The decline in inventory and availability, at least in my locale, has been steady, for firearms and ammuntion. I think the panic buy started some time ago and continues as I write this.

FWIW, availability of many staples and supplies (not just shooting/sporting related) seems to be sporadic at times. The pandemic and our collective response to it seems to continue affecting such things. The year is 2020 and we live in interesting times.
