List of "shorter" 7mm 150gr bullets to load 284 win (std short action 2.800)

I've shot a lot of deer with the Speer Hot Core flat base (.300 Sav-.308 speeds). It performs superbly at the lower end of the velocity spectrum in that application. I did use the Speer 160 Mag tip in my .280 rem before it was discontinued. Performance was excellent. Through and through penetration with good damage on big deer with heavy hide, hair and fat cap as we find here in The North. I have since switched to the 145 Grand Slam in my .280 Rem. Same results as the heavy for caliber bullet with less recoil and flatter shooting. This bullet would be my choice in the .284 for top velocity, the 145 Hot Core if velocity is reduced slightly due to distance or loading.

I believe the 160 Hot core would fit your envelope also.

Not Troy, but here you go. Speer 160 HC flat base...1.222"

140 Sierra pro hunter, 1.100.

Don't be afraid to use a shorter col, there just a place to reference from. And the 140s kill like lightning over 2700 fps.
