Wow! :what:

WOW! That's like a trip in the Way Back Machine! I always wanted a High Standard Target .22 but I was usually on a Ruger Mk. II budget!

Haven't seen one of those in a long time! There use to be a gun shop that carried Llamas (among other makes like S&W, Colt, and Browning), and the owner use to have them advertised in Shotgun News for like a little over dealer cost. They were awfully tempting at those prices but back then I didn't have the discretionary funds to buy all that many guns.

I shoot my Nelson 22 conversion on a 1911 frame more than any other pistol I own. I have built a dedicated lower for it, using a Caspian frame. So I didn’t have to swap anything, I built a twin to it, one with red dot sight the other with irons. Both are extremely accurate and eat any ammo I put through them.

All are great but the Ruger standard has accounted for rabbits, squirrels, turkeys, and quail.

How does it shoot? There was one sitting at my LGS for months before my buddy finally took it home, but he hasnt shot it yet.

They are a bit finicky...you have to use standard velocity ammo and they should be solids. Keep it clean. Magazines are hard to find...I have only 3.

I did not learn to shoot a handgun until I practiced Bullseye with my High Standard Victor and as a Life Member of SNM-Sons of Neanderthal Man-nothing beats the Feel of Steel.

I did somewhat the same thing with a TacSol 2211 upper on an old Essex frame I had picked up many years ago. The TacSol unit fit perfectly and runs great with Wolf Match Target and CCI Standard Velocity ammo.

Can't go wrong with any of the S&Ws. Here is an inexpensive, well made, .22 of mine. Made by Unique (France) for JC Higgins, model 85. It's all steel construction and has adjustable sights.
