First knife:

Made from an old saw blade, hand beveled, and aluminum handle scales with brass rivets made from brass rod. Not very pretty but very functional blade that holds a decent edge.

Second knife:

Made from and old file, hand beveled, handle was maple, brass pins. Unfortunately my temper after quenching was at too low of temperature leaving the cutting edge too hard and the sharp edge chips easily. Still looks good and I learned a lot making it.

Third knife:

Made from a peice of medium/high carbon steel cut from and old plowshare and hand forged to shape, Bevels cleaned up by hand. Hidden tang handle was made from hickory and a single brass pin. Of the three this took the best edge and was one of the sharpest knives I have ever used, made or purchased. The heat treat on this one really worked out well.

My finest custom piece would be this ivory-hilted Damascus dagger given to me by my friend Fuad:

RA40,
You're one hell of a hobbyist!

The first ones are nice! I prefer fixed blades and those were done well!

Had to dig for one I haven't shared already. When I started setting up my dutch ovens and making food for our equestrian team when we host winter horse shows, I found myself cutting up potatoes 20lbs at a time and decided I should make myself a "chefs knife". Leaf spring steel, natural linen micarta handle, blade is about 9" long. Most serious chefs would say it needs to go on a diet but it chops taters quite well and in a pinch I can make kindling lol.
