For factory ammo, I've always shot the 100 gr pill out of my 243 for most game and never lost one or had one go any real distance. All shots were 350 yd or less. The bullet sure did its job.
And for my 06. 180 gr bullet has done the job on everything up to Moose with very similar results as the 243 ammo. No shots past 350 yds. Anyone find the same results.

I'm yet to take any game with them but powershok is always the first ammo I group out of a rifle to sight the scope in. I've always been pleased with its accuracy out of just about every centerfire that I own and at some point I'll shoot a deer with it.

Before there was Power Shock, Federal made Hi Shock ammo. The differences (if any) are unknown to me. But I toppled two average sized young bull elk with my .308 shooting 180 grain Hi Shock ammo. They probably weighed about 475 lbs each. Very good bullet performance!

Depending where you buy it, I wouldn't call Power Shok "cheap" ammo. I really got screwed recently buying some 8mm Mauser because it was all I could find locally and I didn't want to wait two weeks to get something cheaper online. I paid $40 for 20 rounds. Argh.

Less mainstream rounds always cost more.

I used 150 gr 308 in my AR10 and it grouped under MOA. Never shot anything with it.

I believe the 22 Mag 50 gr is labelled Power Shok and I have shot a mess of hogs with it to good result.

I will be using it in 450 Bushmaster this year for deer. It was one of only a handful of 300 gr bullet weight options from the common manufacturers. I didnt want the FTX type bullet. A few videos of folks who have used this ammo in 450 have been very pleased and it has given good bow to stern penetration on deer.

Power Shok is the most accurate factory 180 gr. ammo in my Ruger .300WM. I took two deer with that load last year at relatively short range (20 yards and 50 yards). Bullet performed very well, deer dropped quickly, but I always abide by the words of the late, great Art Eatman, "Don't shoot them in the eating parts."

I find then same with my Model 700 .243Winchester ....it loves the blue box Federal ....

But I reload a 80 grain Barnes TTSX ...that shoots a little better ....

I have also had very good luck with the inexpensive Federal blue box ammo, in the .243 Win, .270 Win and .308 Win. I also had the opportunity to take advantage of a sale a couple years ago where I picked up 9 boxes of it in .308 Win for $9 a box after mail in rebate! Glad I took advantage, given the current environment.

20 years ago when I bought my bar in 270 I went into gander mtn to find some ammo to sight it in. As this was 2 weeks after deer season they had a big table of of the federal blue box on sale. I bought 1 box of 130gr and 1 of 150gr. the 130 grouped right at 1.25 in at 100 yards, the 150 over 3in. So I went back and bought ever box of the 130gr they had. I'm on my last box. Never had a deer get away that wasn't the shooters fault and I shot alot of deer out to 250 yards with it.

I’ve shot the 100 grain load in my .243 and the 130 grainer in my .270 and they shoot well in those rifles. I have a box of 150 grain 7mm Rem Mag, but I’m waiting to re-stock it before I shoot it.

Good shooting and affordable, a good combo .

Stay safe.

I picked up 4 boxes of this yesterday at Walmart, 150 gr 30-30 WIN. It was $15 a box, which to me seemed like normal pre-covid prices.

I took a whitetail buck in January 2019 with Federal Power Shock .25-06 Remington 117 grain factory fodder. One shot, bang flop, but with shot placement about midway between the right eye and right ear hole, I reckon just about any brand would've provided that result.

I bought quite a bit of Federal Power Shock in various cartridges a few years back from Palmetto State Armory during their Black Friday sale period. Stacked with the Federal ammo rebate at the time, most were $8 / box of 20 after rebate including 7X57mm with the 175 grain RNSP and 25-06 Remington among others that for whatever reason I saw were priced similar to Federal Premium offerings last autumn.

I have seen the blue boxes of .30 carbine Powder Shock ammo and it is good stuff. Federal makes a good shell.

T.R., I am waiting for someone to come along and tell you that the .308 is not enough gun for elk - they will need to tell the elk that also.
