Knowing what you have and the situation in our great country right now, what would like to have more of right now or for the next year?

I think my answer would be pistol primers. A pound of pistol powder will last awful long time; like 1200 rounds. And I cast hard SWC, but more primers would be on my mind. I just swapped Hi-Tek bullets for a brick of primers. I know 3 suppliers that haven't seen any primers since February.

Money. ;)

COVID too dangerous for those who use explosives everyday?
And it isn’t like the primer making process has a lot of inter personal contact. I saw ten minutes of it before I realized it was the worst job in the world...

Oh, wait. That might be why. Excuse-19 to avoid standing for eight hours making tiny flat, highly explosive, cupcakes.

about 5k of primers in small pistol, or small pistol magnum or small rifle or small rifle magnum or some combination to make up about 5k

I wouldn’t mind another couple thousand small rifle primers and some more lead, but I’m good with what I have for about 5 years.

I don't actually need anything right now having learned my lesson after the last shortage. But the one item I haven't seen for the longest time is pistol primers, small or large. I did make sure to have LOTS of percussion caps this time. They were slower to return to the shelves than anything else. Fortunately, they are slower to use up.

I could use another brick of large rifle primers. Can you ever have too much lead and shot?

Found myself a little short on small pistol primers. Not out by any means, but I've got about a year until I feel a bit pinched. Thought I had the problem solved. LGS was putting in an order for me for 5K when they were still available (been a great guy over the years, calls me up and lets me know when he's putting in an order, shares the FFL discount, takes payment over the phone when it arrives). He decided to retire and close shop instead of dealing with the COVID BS!.

Time to reload and shoot what I have. I've been busier this year than ever.
If anything. It would be 77 smk.

Primers in general and small rifle variants in particular have evaporated. I think it's a symptom of the industry trying to address an unprecedented demand for ammunition. Factory ammunition makers are your biggest competition for primers right now because ammuntion buyers are a much larger market than reloaders. There's no overall scarcity of primers; it's just a market dislocation. Eventually the market for ammo will be saturated and demand will start to fall in line with supply. Prices and availability will return to normal. When? I don't know, but it will be some time after you've paid over a hundred dollars for a sleeve of primers that you purchased after a frenzied online search.

While I'm not exactly low on primers they are impossible to find now and who knows when that will change, so if I could choose I'd go for any small primers, rifle or pistol, magnum or standard. I haven't had much problem getting powder at decent prices and bullets are available although pricey. Two weeks ago my LGS had some primers but there was a 500 pc limit so that's what I bought. I'm planning on going today and if they have any I'll buy another 500 or whatever the current limit is.

I'm pretty well set. I stocked up on primers, powder, and projectiles early this year...just had a feeling that hard times were coming. I've also toned down the amount of ammunition I go through on a given range trip so that supplies on hand will last a bit longer.

I haven't done any casting since my black powder days in the 80's. I'm gearing up for that and plan to try out this newfangled powder coating business. Seems much easier than the cake pan method from back in the day. I need molds, lead, and a place to setup that station.
