Right, it's the guns, not the people.

The City of Philadelphia is suing Pennsylvania so it can enact stronger gun safety laws and curb the epidemic of violence roiling the city.

Philadelphia is asking a judge to invalidate a set of regulations under the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act, so it and other municipalities are free to pass their own measures aimed at curbing gun violence.

City officials gathered at Germantown's Happy Hollow Recreation Center to announce the action, a location chosen "due to historical rates of gun violence in the area," said Patricia Gillett, spokesperson for Council President Darrell Clarke.

I love Philly! Watching them make your cheese steak in Philly at some little hole in the wall and then tasting like no other you’ve ever had. The people are great, the politician’s are idiots.

True story. When I was in the military a group of us were street racing and got busted in downtown Philly. The guy driving the car I was in had a BAC above the legal limit, so he was facing a DUI charge. He did’t tell Command, figured wait until the sentencing. Dumb all around, I know.

A few weeks later we went with him to court to see the train wreck. Back then (and maybe still) the arresting officer had to go to the sentencing. My buddies attorney took all 4 of us out into the parking lot and told us to give him all of our cash. We collectively came up with $810 and handed it to the lawyer as we all walked back inside the court house. Once inside the courtroom, the lawyer approached the Philly Cop, then both the lawyer and Officer stepped into the hall for 30 seconds.

A few min later my buddies docket was called and he went up with the lawyer. The Judge asked the Philly Cop “Is the defendant the person who was driving the car?” and the Officer said “I’m not sure your honor”.

Case dismissed. I’ve wondered how much of that $810 the Officer got.

The rest of IL would be perfectly happy to let Chicago become FULLY autonomous......good luck and good riddance.
I live 45 miles from Chicago and have been there two or three times in the past 15 years. It's a financial drain on an otherwise nice agricultural and manufacturing state. Never been to philly, I can imagine it wouldn't be for me, hopefully some of the residence can see their way to electing government that has the citizens best interest in mind, not their own. I can't see it happening here but I can hope.

Grew up outside Rockford, but went into Chicago quite often for work or to see a girl. Been to Philly a couple of times too. They are cesspools. Rockford has gone straight down the toilet too since I left. The sane people who can leave already have. The rest want to.

Pack too many people into too small a space and you'll get trouble every time. All big cities are like that.

I live less than 50 miles from Philadelphia and avoid it like the plague. Not worth the crime and traffic and parking nightmares to see a few historical buildings. I only go there to drop off or pick up people from the airport or train station, and you better believe i carry a full size sidearm with a spare mag when I do.

Presumably those "regulations" refer to the PA Constitution Article 1, Section 21:
§ 21. Right to bear arms.

The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

Good luck with that, judge.

Yeah Rockfords gotten bad. I'm in Mchenry , people are still sort of normal here.

They can’t take care of their own problems so they have to screw others!
Don't think very much of their DA either.

Yes, they want to become a semiautonomous city-state like NYC or Chicago where the 2A is not recognized.

Maybe with strict gun control philly could be a safe city like NYC or Chicago. Everybody knows there's practically no crime in those cities, right?

As a PA resident I agree with the sentiment that Philly drags the whole state down. I'd be fine with them not being part of our state.

For what it's worth I'm a long way from all of those big northern cities down here in south Florida... I can report, though, that the only times in a 22 year police career down here - that anyone every tried to bribe me.... they just happened to be from Chicago, Boston, New York City - you get the picture... At times it was a very subtle approach and on others it was so blatant that I was certain there was a hidden camera nearby... I'm no angel but can state it never worked (I figured that if you ever took a single step down that road it would quickly become all downhill...).

We've also had a few cities down here make the attempt to have their own version of the Second Amendment... and yes, that's why there's a state law prohibiting them from doing so... As a result they start off the trouble by suing to gain through the courts what could not otherwise be allowed...

I grew up in Chicago and it used to be a great city, Lots of unique special immigrant neighborhoods where the flavor of the people prevailed. Things certainly changed and the whole fam moved out to the burbs. There was a time that the city worked, however that time is over. The news says it all now.
