I am looking to purchase a H-K SP5...or a PTR Clone... What would you buy?....is the HK worth that much more dough?...the difference is about 1000 to 2000 more bucks?...anyone have any real interest in any of the pistols?....and would you buy it with a "brace"?

I haven't seen one Youtube video where the PTR didn't have a failure to feed/eject. I looked hard at this problem and decided the Zenith was the only option. And it's not an option because presently no one imports them.

HK or nothing for now.

I used to own an H&K 91 and I currently own a PTR-91.

Not the same ones you’re talking about, but the same company.

The PTR’s I’ve seen and shot (with my circle of friends the PTR-91 is the most common semi .308’s owned) they’re in every way just as good. Except one, collector value.

If you’re looking for a shooter they’re just as good. I actually own and shoot them though, I’m not getting my information from YouTube videos.

Haven’t shot their pistols though, but I doubt it’s a different story there.

I think you have to decide if you want a nice pistol caliber carbine or an HK. From a practical standpoint paying an extra $1,000 for the HK doesn't make sense but if you want "the real deal" you might never be happy unless you have an actual HK.

I opted for neither. I have 2 MKE Zenith Clones. I think that the PTR is ok but is the last in line for reliability from the clones. MKE & POF are better but the PTR is a US company with better support. The HK if you can get it at the MSRP is a good deal that will not lose money. At the price people are asking for them now I would never touch one. $3000-$4000 for one is insane. It is in no way shape or form worth that.

My MKEs are great. I am glad I got them when I did.

The simple fact is that you can get the genuine article and all the oohs and aahs that go with owning an H&K or always have to say "It's just like an H&K except"....

I went with a PTR clone, and added a SBT brace and an HK handguard. I got a trilug "piston" for my SWR Octane 45 and it all seems to work fine. Would I like to have a genuine HK MP5, heck yes, am I going to buy one, No.

I'd get the HK because it will double or triple in value within 10-20 years whereas the PTR won't. That being said the PTR is a good product and a good shooter so buy it if you want to save money. This is the same scenario on a genuine Colt Single Action Army versus the Italian clones. Colt will always be worth more than a clone.

If I could decide between POF vs. MKE vs. PTR vs. HK vs. Omega vs. Sig MPX vs semi-custom MP5SD2 I’d have bought one already. I’ll probably go without until I stumble across an HK at MSRP.

My sub $500 PSA 9mm AR pistol does everything I need out of an 9mm carbine - and it takes glock mags, and has a rail for a reddot.
