Hello gents,

I've been loading 10mm lately and have some thoughts,

VV N105 is the biggest disappointment, averaging just under 900 FPS on 9.7gn of powder, (9.9 is max)

Longshot is the winner, giving 1250 at 9.3gn, (9.5gn is max)

AA#9 is another strong choice, delivering 1200 FPS at 13gn

Power Pistol is another I'm going to keep pushing. It's also doing 1200 FPS at 9.1gn, (9.3gn is max)

N105 is performing drastically worse than advertised, I'm not sure what the deal is. Im going to increase charge weight to maximum and beyond as well as trying magnum primers. Not even cracking 1,000 at 0.2gn from max is awful performance. Based on their book I should expect 1280.

Im loading all to 1.26" with CCI 300 large pistol primers, and a light crimp on the RMR 180gn FMJ projectiles. I measure on a Labradar chrono. I shoot a Glock 20 Gen4, no mods (I'll circle back with the exact readings but mainly just wanted to compare my thumb in the wind with y'alls on results).

How are your 10mms shooting?

You rock it all the way to 14.0 huh? Whats the velocity on that. I believe that's over max.

I have been reloading 10mm for a few years. It will launch the brass down the road.

My favorite to date is a 180 FMJ or JHP with 9 grains of Longshot. Good for about 1275 out of my Kimber.
Out of curiosity, I tried some 155s, & didn't get much satisfaction out of it. Ended the experiment.
Next up was the 200 grain XTP. I developed loads with Power Pistol & BE-86. My research into the origins of the 10mm was a 200 grain projectile at 1200 FPS and both PP & BE-86 accomplished that with room to spare.

While testing PP in new Starline brass, I found that in my Kimber, on that day, 7.8 of Power Pistol got me to 1160 FPS and an extreme spread of ONLY 8 FPS. << That right there is my new load for 10mm. Good & stout and plenty accurate. It's a keeper.

14.0 GR. of AA #9, is my standard loading for my 10mm.

Those are some boomers...Accurate #9 is rowdy powder.

Although Hornady’s manual goes up to 14.9 for 180’s seated at 1.260. Although Western Powders manual only goes up to 13.5, which is my max.

I tried AA#9, Blue Dot, Power Pistol, and BE86. Of those, I prefer BE86. The AA#9 was dirty compared to the others, Blue Dot was pretty good, but BE86 gave just over 1200fps with only 8.3gn powder, Xtreme 180gn plated. It was accurate, clean, and economical. Power Pistol was a close second.

Witness Elite 4.7" barrel.

An undisclosed amount of 800X under 180 grain Hornady XTP for field carry and Blue Dot under 180 FMJ for range use. I’d break the forum rules if I disclosed my 800X weight so I’ll forgo that data release.

I haven't used 2400 in 10MM, but since it has a burn rate similar to AA-9, I suspect it would be quite usable in 10MM for top loads. My Speer #14 manual lists 2400 10MM loads.

Reference AA-9, it's a favorite of mine in top 38 Super/Super Comp and 10MM loads. In 10MM with 165 grain bullets, 15 grains AA-9 averages ~1335-1375 FPS depending on which 165 grain bullet is used. This, in 5" barrels. My Speer manual lists 15.5 grains as max, with velocities similar to what I see with my guns.

Check Alliant's online reloading data for 2400 powder. 12.8 gr max under a 180 JHP.

Okay guys here are the numbers, finally got back to my shooting supplies and was updating my spreadsheet and thought I'd post here too...

All cartridges were loaded to 1.260" with RMR 180gn FMJ bullets and CCI large pistol primers, in Starline cases 1st firing. Firearm was an unmodified Glock 20 Gen4.
