I found a Model 65-6 with 3 inch barrel on Armslist in excellent condition that was listed for $600. I knew my neighbor was looking for a nice stainless revolver so I told him to go for it, and after my looking around for one I thought it was a good deal because they are very hard to find especially for $600. I am curious though, what are these generally selling for these days

600 is a bit low for a nice one here in Ca., but in other locales it may be about right. Not a smoking deal by any stretch, but that’s not totally outrageous based on today’s market.

Go on Gun Broker and look at completed auctions for the S&W 65 to get a more universal idea of what people are paying for them.

Stay safe.

I agree, Big Orange 83. Here in Tampa Bay area, my LGS generally starts at $600 for pricing good used stainless S&W revolvers. So this deal definitely sounds like a good one. i.e. - just got a nice used S&W 640 no-dash for $600 last week. (my Avatar, btw)

The 4 inch model 65s can be found pretty regularly for under $5-600 but the 3 inch 65s are very tough to come by.

I picked up this 3" 65 a little over a year ago.

I believe they had it listed for $600 maybe $650. Cant remember exactly what it was or what I paid on it, as I traded something else for it. It came with different grips, which I switched out for some Houge Bantams.

That's still a pretty decent price, especially for a 3" with a round butt grip configuration.

I said well since I was having it cut might as well spruce it up. Even put a night sight on the front for the ultimate bedside companion. At least for my usage.

600 for a 3"? Heck yeah! One in excellent condition around here with tight lock-up and no cosmetic issues is easily gonna be tagged $700 to over $800.

I would guess the value of a gun that is no longer made is based on what someone is willing to pay for it.

Any of the 3" Smith's are sought after gun. If you can get one in good shape for $600 I would do it.

Funny thing about the 3-inch 65s or 64s,
10s is that they don't really turn me on and
yet I own two such 65s.

For me a revolver is either a 4-incher or a
2-incher though at times I liked the 2.5
Model 19s.

I've got my eye on a couple of Smiths I
prefer more, so the 3-inch 65s likely will go.

I did know an ATF agent who swore by the
65 in 3 inches and I believe but don't know
for sure some FBI agents and DEA agents
also liked them.

I prefer the 2" (and 4") guns as well. In between is OK too. :)

Always have my eye out for a 2" 64, just rarely see them around here.

Mine is a 65-3 and it's one very nice revolver. I've had it a long time and don't wish to part with it for less than a small fortune. It stays loaded and rests next to my bed on the night stand. And furthermore, that rascal with evermore shoot!

Those 3" revolvers are absolutely worthless. Now, it is important that each and every one of you both believe what I just wrote, and make sure to repeat it often on every gun forum and in all of your conversations.

Then, maybe I will be able to buy a few more without needing to sell a child or mortgage everything that I own.

I would love a 3" M&P... with the tapered barrel and tapered rib. They made them, but they ain't common. I've never actually seen one.

Being A 3 inch, that is a pretty decent price. Revolver prices tend to be lower here than in much of the nation but that would be A good price even here

If you decide to sell, definitely let us know, I haven't seen a 3" s&w of any model in quite some time...
