I tried my best to love it...

Honestly why on earth did you expect a DA/SA Sig to be anything like a SAO 1911?
I actually didn't expect it to be or feel anything like a 1911 because I was certain it would never be. I really can't even complain about the Sig's trigger because it wasn't terrible in DA or SA. Mostly just realized it wasn't something I really enjoyed shooting. Not sure I can put my finger on the exact reason...and it sucks because I really liked the gun in every way except the actual shooting part.

I sold my 1911 for some stupid reason and realized I made a mistake. This year I bought a Springfield Armory EMP4 Champion 9mm. Great shooter!

I've looked at the different EMP variations. Haven't ruled them out or a commander sized 9mm...would be nice to have the added capacity of a double stack though.

The 1911 scaled to 9MM...something I wished for for a long time. Mine is one of my all-time favorite guns, partly because of my stubby little fingers.

For some reason it sounded to me like it's a target application for you? I read back and didn't see mention of target or carry. Either way the P30 series and USP series are offered in all sizes.

Full disclosure, I found the P228 in a small pawn shop back in the earlier summer. Made in Germany, triple matching #'s, 2-10rd factory mags, 1-13rd Sig mag, box, papers, etc.... For $500. I called one friend who's a dealer that can't get inventory (no answer) a guy I knew was looking for a 9mm (no money) and another guy I knew who loves Sig's (already has too many). So I bought it.
Shot it and carried it exclusively for the last 2 months. Accuracy was better than expected and it was smooth, function was perfect except when I short stroked the trigger. Which was often.

Bit of irony, the friend who had too many Sig's already, added one to his collection this morning.

Holy cow ... a Browning campfire circle ... where are the smores?? :what:

None? ... Oh ... OK, I get it ... it's a Hi-Power CLOCK!! ;)

(I want six o'clock)

Thanks since that pic I added another Don Williams custom.

The gun at 6 o’clock is a C69 with a Bomar Sight built by an unknown smith. I bought it for $400 from Bill Rogers. The finish was rough when I got it. I sent it to Fords who did their master blue on it. It also wears smooth Spegels these days. Super slick shooter.

I am not a fan. It is a P210 in name only. If we are talking about a Swiss P210 that is a different animal.
I thought that too, then I shot it. It is a fine handgun in its own right, but I agree they should have named it P215 or somesuch as its not a real P210. To be fair, though, I wasnt super impressed with the trigger on the vintage P210.

Hmm ... thread about classic SIG P-series, SAO or DA/SA autopistols and ... wait for it ...
he Sigs 2XX guns are good guns, but I just didn't care for them over Glock.
Nine (9) posts before someone mentions the G-word in a thread not about Glocks. Folks, that's gotta be a new record for THR. Usually, I gave a thread max 5 posts before ... well, you know.

@NIGHTLORD40K -- I just shot one of the new P210s, and holy smokes, you're right about the trigger. Phenomenal. But, I've got an open mind and will actually give credit to SIG for some of their recent models. I even like the "new" P-225 (A1) much better than the classic P-225/P-6.

How do you short-stroke the trigger of a P-228? Usually the reset is pretty doggone distinct. But then, I've only owned seven or eight (real) 228s, so maybe I haven't shot enough of 'em.

But if you want a great trigger (that's not a 1911), the SIG P-226 and P-229 Legion SAO models have really nice triggers, perhaps more of what you were looking for. Not really any DA/SA auto-loaders with triggers comparable to a decent 1911 trigger, although if you haven't trigger SIG's SRT system (or a Legion model) I think you're giving up on SIG too quickly.

Just me being me more than anything else. Trying to shoot multiple targets, taking up the slack in the trigger as I moved to the next target but obviously not allowing the trigger to fully reset. I'm sure I coulda gotten used to it if I kept at it, but like I said, didn't enjoy the gun enough to invest that much time in it.

Honestly why on earth did you expect a DA/SA Sig to be anything like a SAO 1911? The BHP is not going to be a 1911 either. Even with a trigger job by a master BHP smith it will not be the same. If you want a 1911 trigger get a 1911 in 9mm.

Agreed, if you are looking for a 1911 trigger, you'll be disappointed with anything else, even a slicked up BHP will not feel right. Same with things like SAO Sig Legions, very nice and sweet shooters but more movement in break and reset to really feel like a 1911.

Personally, I think the trick to DA triggers, is to shoot them enouigh so they arent a problem, and then they wont bother you.

Yep, I've been working on just that and finally am really happy with where my DA triggers are now. Still not as sweet as a 1911 but with proper draw I'm right on target as fast or faster on average. For me, switching from the wide frame 229 to the slimmer 228 really helped hand fit for trigger control, and a real focus on a good dry fire regimen.

I will agree with OP that short stroking the non SRT Sig trigger during fast strings has happened to me as well. If I was going to carry my Sig I'd get an SRT installed.

Wilson EDCX9 or wait for the CZ/Dan Wesson DWX. The Wilson is the most 1911 like double stack carry pistol currently on the market.

Love my Wilson, does feel like a proper 1911 trigger. Though, to me, it does feel more like a Sig in the hand with me always wanting to get up higher on the gun than the beaver tail allows (just like I do with non Legion Sig's).

I like a nice 1911 trigger but I love the feel of the CZ 75-based guns a good bit more than the stick-straight grip of the 1911. I have a few CZs with various CGW and CZ Custom parts in them, but the best trigger, the one that is more or less as good to my finger as a nice 1911 trigger, is the 85 Combat with the following parts in it (about $275 worth). You can also make these modifications to other CZ models, not just the 85 Combat.

- CGW 54460 Ultra-Lite Kit using the range hammer spring ( this kit alone provides a very noticeable improvement in both the DA and the SA trigger, plus makes it very easy to rack the slide. Racking a CZ slide isn't a problem, but with the Ultra-Lite Kit it's just much lighter.)
- CZ Pre-B short trigger reset (this is a CZ part)
- CGW 6-SAO trigger
- CGW Race Hammer Kit
- CGW floating trigger pin
The result of the above modifications in the 85 Combat is an amazing light and creep-free trigger, essentially no camming-back of the hammer before firing, and a short trigger reset (the trigger operates fore-and-aft within the thickness of the trigger at about the mid point, seen below). In side by side comparisons, I've found this setup to be noticeably better than the factory target gun triggers like the Shadow series. I don't know how it would compare to a factory single-action competition gun like the Czechmate, which I would expect to be extremely nice, but I've never fondled one.

don't be a buffoon. he mentioned trying and not liking a Sig P2xx and preferring a HiPower or 1911 in a thread not about 1911 or Hipowers. should somebody who doesn't like the Sig Pwhatever not choose any other gun?

t's been mentioned once, but if you can be patient the Dan Wesson DWX looks like it would scratch the itch. 1911 trigger with CZ75 grip profile.
Has anyone even seen one of these in the wild yet? Much less, had the opportunity to shoot one? Most definitely looks like it scratch the itch for many of us (at a grand less than what Wilson is asking for its pistol)>

My personal thanks to you for letting us all know that you have absolutely zero sense of humor nor the capability to comprehend irony.

"Buffoon?" Haven't heard that term for years. Hmm.

Closest I've seen is a few pictures of handling them at SHOT.

stick around, for your befuddlement I will use shenanigans and Tomfoolery as well. LOL, sorry I misunderstood your humor. carry on.

I would probably be looking for a Dan Wesson Pointman 9, Colt Gold Cup National Match 9mm., SIG P210-9-B, or a CZ Shadow 2 SA.

Of course I'm also perfectly happy with my Colt Commander .38 Super with a 9mm. barrel for it!

Ah geez, a Biden bus driver?

I've been using that word for longer than ... well a long time anyway.

Not my fault that some old geezer appropriated it this year.

Kinda like I have been doing beards, flannel and PBR long before hipsters were a thing.

All the good stuff gets ruint these days.

I'd probably be convinced to settle for one of those. I mean, if you twisted my arm enough ;)
When I was young and naive, I traded into a Commander in .38 Super. Saw how much ammo was, and traded it away without ever firing it. Not nearly as nice as yours but still hurts to think about it.
