I have an old Rock Chucker.
While I was working on it the other day I noticed some stamped proof marks on the right hand side near the base.
Very subtle and mostly filled with coating.
This particular stamp reads A3 and I was wondering what these stamps refer to?
I am posting a picture I hijacked from online and circled the numbers as a reference to what I am trying to describe..

I do not know about the marks you indicated, but.
If you remove the top bushing, under the flange is the year it was made stamped there.
That is if your RC is old enough, after a while RCBS stopped putting the date stamp there.

There are different models of the Rock Chucker

A, A2, A3, etc.

What is the date stamped on the top? Just curious.

My RC is from the 60's and is marked A2.
Too much stuff on it now to tell the year, piggyback unit.

Both my Rock Chucker and Reloader Special are stamped 1978. The RC has an A3 casting stamp and the RS has an A6H on the opposite side.
This “A3” stamp has nothing to do with the A3 press. I believe the A2 and A3 had it cast on the front of the ram guide in big letters just like RCBS and RC was cast on the side.

The numbers you see are casting lot numbers, I have seen them upto 12 on the early RC. Like previously mentioned the year of manufacture is stamped on top, usually under the flange. They started that practice in 1961 with the introduction of the Rockchucker.
The Rockchucker is designed from the Jr2 frame, other than the linkage it has no connection to the larger A series presses.
