Hey my Name is Hias i am from Europe
I wanted to do a bedjob for my Mark 2 but i think ive Done something wrong.
I Used devcon f putty because i read its fine to use this sort of epoxy.
I think my failure was That i pressed it With the Screws so hard it squished the epoxy away. I Used bee wax.

If you Look at the Front where the big hole is i put a lot of epoxy there and Nothing is left. I wraped electrical tape at one Inch on the Barrel. I Used playdoh for Masking. Should you Give maskingtape at the Barrel or leave it as a pillow?

So Overall i think inshouldnt have put so much force on the Screws, Maybe thats the Reason why everyone Uses Silicon Tubes.

After all That, what do you think i should do now?
Sorry for my Language.

Hi there. Sorry, don't know anything about bedding, just wanted to say, "welcome to the forum". Your English is very good. No worries there.

Any idea why the Devcon didn't stick to the wood around the big hole? Could it be too smooth, or oil soaked? I've never had that problem. Where did that epoxy go? Did it stick to the receiver? At this point I believe I would remove as much as possible, degrease thoroughly and try it again. I like to make "locks" or rough texture in the wood to give epoxy more surface area to hold onto.

What thickness of the epoxy where you after when cured? Some expoxies have a recommended minimum thickness.

I've never used bees wax as a release agent but would think it would work. The only release agent I've used has been what comes with Brownells Acra glass. That has worked very well for me using Devcon epoxies.

The epoxy squished out of the Stock above and Nothing left inside. I put a elelectrical tape at one Inch of the Barrel For freefloat. I dont know if i should do That.

the thickness is Really thin i just put some dremelmarks on the Wood i hadnt realy cleaned the Wood but put a lot of bee wax on the Barrel.

should the Barrel freefloat total or should there be a pillow at the First Inch ?

If you squeezed all the epoxy out there was no room for it to begin with... In most instances different areas of the stock are bedded at different times.

To start, the stock needs to be free of oil and cleaned real good with a degreasing type solvent that leaves no residue. Oil saturated wood has to be cleaned numerous times.

I think you should read and explore procedures about glass bedding a bit more. There are many different techniques used. Read about them and pick what sounds reasonable to you. It is not rocket science and not hard to do but if not done properly, well, you know...

Good luck.

I am about klutzy as can be with woodworking, and once succeeded in ruining my anvil. but I can offer this suggestion: Go to You-Tube and search on "ANVIL." I believe the gunsmith is named Mark and he does some nice glass bedding work as well as gunsmithing. Watch his stock working/bedding videos. Geting the correct tools will also help.
He makes it look easy and he takes care of the "FLASH" squeeze out neatly and easily.
