Czech Mauser, all-original, with a scout scope.
——No drilling or tapping was needed for a friend to add the B-Square Mount. That’s why he used it.

He found it at a large Orlando gun show about ten years ago.

It already had been Beautifully re-blued, and reddish stain added to the nice wood. Imagine such a rifle with a short scout scope—reminds me of the sniper bell tower scene in Kelly’s Heroes!

The friend won’t even begin to consider selling it, I would drive from Memphis to Chattanooga just to pick it up.

K31. One of my most accurate rifles, only hindered by my eyes’ ability to see the target with the irons. I would stack it up against any modern iron sighted rifle. GP11 ammo is fantastic, who’s only down side is the Berdan primes case doesn’t allow for easy reloading.

1903A3. As my eyes age an 1903A4 would be nice.

As to why. Mauser action, accurate, historical provinance.

Swede Mauser carbine. The build quality on them is phenomenal and the length and weight aren't too onerous.

i'd be happy with any peacetime-built Mauser you gave me really. Every country built theirs a little differently, but as long as you get the action right, the rifle isn't going to suck.
Same here...accurate, well built, excellent cartridge for all Pennsylvania hunting. Ground hogs to deer.

It would be an 03. Reason being its what I grew up with. And I love 303. Has taken ever single animal on our planet. With exception to extinct animals. Not sure I would use a 303 on a Trex.

The Upper rifle is a Remington 1917 30-06 in excellent + shape with an Elmer Keith Ogden arsenal cartouche ! Very accurate and 100% dependable , has matching Remington Bayonet and WW1 equipt belt :)

Second gun down a DWM Brazilian 7mm carbine , very sweet ! 3rd down is a Israelian Star of David marked .308 barreled M48 rifle used in the early struggle and dear to my heart. 4th down a complete 6.5 Arisaka with bayonet to remind me of my father serving in the Pacific theater . Bottom is an 1895 7.65 Mauser engineer Carbine with th long brass handled Remington repurposed bayonet, very cute !

If I was limited to one fantasy milsurp, and I can’t own a full auto Thompson M1 where I reside, an original, unfired SS marked 98k sniper rifle with matching scope and mount.

This was chosen ONLY for the rarity, historical value and the resale $$ for my heirs when I pass, not for what the SS or the runes stand for.

My only 98k is a post-war Czech rebuild with the bulbous trigger guard and the nazi stuff ground off the receiver so it’s a shooter not a collector.

Stay safe.
