I'm asking a question that is completely outside of my experience. So I might not ask it right.

I don't have a large gun "collection" actually less than ten. Actually my guns it's five. The rest of them are my wife's and I don't shoot them.

Even then I've caught myself opening the safe and thinking "I haven't shot this in a couple of years."

Earlier this year I decided to "rotate" through all of my guns when I go to the range.

I always take my LC9 as a pocket gun and I take another of my defensive guns each time. So I get to fire each of them a few times each year.

What do you guys who have hundreds of gun do? How do you enjoy one gun out hundreds or even tens.

If I buy one my wife wants the same thing. So she has as many as I do. She never complained about what I bought so that's cool too. My likes range from muzzleloaders to modern tactical. I have all the bases covered so I'm a happy camper.

I’m often limited to where and when I can shoot rifle-caliber rifles and sporting shotguns, so they don’t get anywhere near the attention of my handguns, rimfire or pistol-caliber rifles.

Even if I can’t shoot them often I still look, want and occasionally buy others to add to the hoard though. I can always find a niche to fill with a caliber I like or a particular gun I crave.

Stay safe.

I have guns I shoot regularly and some not as much but at less than a dozen I could shoot them all if I so desired.

As for enjoyment that fluctuates with how well I’m shooting at the time. :)

Im selling a lot of them off. I want to part with my Optima .50 but I know I’ll regret it if I have to go into extra innings to get a deer tho.

For those of us that collect it isn't just about shooting that we enjoy. If you don't collect or don't appreciate history or don't have an appreciation for the tech or workmanship then you just gotta take our word that we enjoy them without shooting them.

I have plenty that mostly sit and it's not for lack of desire on my end. My last move was around 4 years ago and it took me away from a 100-yard range where I frequently shot my rifles (there was a shotgun range there too). There's an outdoor range somewhat nearby now but I don't enjoy their rules or range layout. I'm in the process of locating a suitable property to build my own range. When that happens I'm sure my shotguns and rifles will get used much more frequently. In the meantime I'm limited to indoor ranges or the occasional use of a friend's property - although he doesn't have the room to really use long guns.

My handguns get used based on their role (defensive versus purely recreational guns), so some get used quite a lot while others sit for awhile. I usually rotate through guns of the same caliber at the same time.

I have a firearms I have never shot, I call them "for looking at guns". Doesn't mean I don't enjoy them. Never was much of a fan of Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet or Matisse but I do appreciate the craftsmanship and work put into a fine firearm.

I also have more guns I use as tools for specific jobs, I can't say I "enjoy" them any more than a hammer or screwdriver but they get the job done.

I have guns bought for applications I no longer do much if at all, I have guns that have been superseded in applications, I have guns that did not work as well as I hoped for what I got them for, I have guns with sentimental value, previously belonging to deceased friends and relatives.
I have no incentive to sell them, though.
I sold most of the ones I was worried about breaking to collectors, though.

yes. care alone stops me from using them all. hard to remember how to disassemble them all and reassemble. some I haven't shot in years cause of this.

plus some are easier to break down and clean and others are harder. thats another factor. if I had less theyd get used more and Id just deal with the take longer tasks.

I feel less is more often and in this case I've learned the hard way that is true.

I've got a S&W model 41 and 357 Mag model 686 that I've not shot in over a decade.
The emphasis of my shooting practice is double taps (quick shooting) at 6-7 yards with carry pistols (Glocks).

yes i have a lot of guns..... don't know exactly how many because i haven't counted in a long time and i store at more then one location...... I am not talking hundreds.... no way but yes for the average guy a lot..... I bet i haven't shot my Rem 7mm in 15 years.... but thats ok as it is not going anywhere... I have always bought what i want and need; spending most of my time in very rural areas and using guns on a very regular basis. in my earlier years i did farm and run a trap line using guns daily. i have never found a NEED to get rid of any of my guns and will likely leave the lot to my son and daughters and sons in law. I surely hope they enjoy them as much as I have.....

As has been mentioned, as a shooter I have too many, as a collector I do not have enough. I shoot them and I caress them - I give them love that they do not return but I am OK with that. They are my hobby - they strike that spark in me. Again, I am a man lost between two worlds - shoot them or look at them - I live the balance of both.
Now that that movie is over, I should get a call any day from Shiloh Sharps stating that my new 1874 is ready to ship - firearms passion is a maddening drug I tell you, we are all in denial, somebody please stop us!

I buy and sell all the time so I can try new things. That way I know what I like and why I like it because I have actually given many others a fair shake.

Once every couple of months I do the whole "take them all out, look them over, clean them, put them back away" routine. A lot of times this is my way of enjoying them; doesn't necessarily mean I have to take them out and shoot them to appreciate them.

Some, like my shotguns, don't receive much use at all as I don't hunt or shoot trap anymore but I still like having them around. Same with my rifles; no shooting ranges nearby means they're left in the safe more often than not. Mostly my handguns get the most work, but not quite as much as I use to go to the range regularly instead of every now and then.

I don't know how many guns I own, quite a few but less than 100 I think. No matter the number I can only enjoy them one at a time. Even then the gun is only a small piece of the fun.

When I had hundreds, Id have said yes just because not only could I not get around to shooting them all regularly, I couldnt even lay hands on them all because they were buried so deep in storage. Hell, there were times when I couldnt tell you where, exactly, they all were.

Im down to a more manageable number now. Sold off all the inaccurate, unreliable, or ammunition unsupportable ones. Gotta say, I feel pretty good about it.
