If favorite relates to most range trips then my Beretta Nano's fit the bill.I love shooting them, and have a strong feeling they will be with me for life. For a 22.cal Plinker/Trainer then the LCR22.

My favorite is the one I have on me or in my hand, at the time. When it comes to shooting at the range, my choices change like the wind direction as to which ones to take. Come hunting season, it's the one that most closely matches the type of hunting I will be doing. When it comes to CWC, I have only a coupla options and that depends on the day. To me, guns are just tools. Their beauty comes not from how they look on the cover of a gun rag, but how they perform in my hand/in the field. I use what works best for me in the specific scenario, even if others with me at the time or viewing pics on a gun forum are not impressed.

Nothin wrong with that.

My No.1 favorite would be my Colt Combat Commander customized by Colt's Custom Gun Shop. Reliable (feeds everything but really prefers 185 gr. and 200 gr. ammo), durable (after all these years still looking great), accurate, (like a Gold Cup but without the drama), and a real hoot to shoot. It's my frequent companion on many a range visit, was the gun I used to qualify for my CCW license, and still gets out on occasion for concealed carry duty. No flaws that I'm aware of; just one awesome handgun!

Umm, can being TOO awesome be flaw? :)

H&K P7, is just about perfect only real problem is it gets hot after 2 to 3 mags.
I mitigate the heat buildup by only loading one magazine at a time. In a combat situation, the P7 points so naturally, odds are, if you need a second or third magazine, you got serious problems! Lol.

I know this is going sound like a wise-ass answer, but I think for me it's true: my favorite gun is the last gun I got, and that holds only so far until I start wanting the next. So, I suppose to answer the OP, that would be the Colt Police Positive I recently picked up:

View media item 3386
Its top flaw is the deep and narrow cutout between trigger guard and grip frame, in combination with rather small grips, means your knuckles get a pretty smart rap on every shot. Also its trigger is just plain not as good of a trigger in either DA or SA mode as compared to its nearest S&W competitor.
My buddy in maine just sent me a snapshot of a classified ad listing a Colt police positive for $250 OBO. I so wished I was in maine. That would be my 5th sub $300 colt grab.

Out of all the pistols ive owned it would have to be a Rossi 971 SS with 4" barrel. Thing was a tank.

Favorite for the range... CZ 52. Top flaw (after replacing the OEM firing pin) would be the terrible muzzle blast and flash. Also it's best feature, depending on my mood and if there's anybody at the range I wish to annoy.

Favorite everyday carry (and my only current handgun in that category) FNS9mm. Top flaw would be the arcane method to switch grip panels. Mine came with the FN curved panels, wanted to try the flat panels, and buggered the device making the switch. Now I'm afraid to switch back for fear of permanant breakage.

I dig that trigger. Is it original to the pistol?

Yes it is. It's a Gold Cup trigger and as I understand it, the gunsmiths at Colt's Custom Shop had to do some slight modifications to the inside of the frame to accommodate the adjustable trigger.

Everyone has a favorite pistol. One that they think is superior in function and form. One that makes you bewildered at everyone else’s favorite choice.
I apologize if this sounds kind of snippy, but no, not everyone has a "favorite pistol." Just like rifles, I have different handguns for different purposes. I love my fairly new Glock 19 Gen 5 - it has quickly become my "favorite" CCW. But even if Glock 19s were around back in my IHMSA days (early '80s) a 9mm Glock 19 of any generation wouldn't have been my "favorite" handgun for tipping over 200 meter steel rams.o_O
My Glock 19 Gen 5 would not be my first choice for a serious backpacking gun either - I have a 4" Taurus 41 Magnum for that. And my favorite "kit" gun (my fishing gun) is a Smith Model 63. Although, I have to admit my fairly new Glock 44 might very well become my favorite "kit" gun before long. My little Glock 44 was the .22 I chose to have stuffed down inside my "extra/backup" bag in the truck while we were deer hunting this year. Even though I still like my old Model 63 Smith a lot ( I'll never sell it), I left it home this deer season.
I'm not "bewildered at everyone else's favorite choice" when it comes to handguns either. Not unless "everyone" else thinks there's one handgun that's best for all purposes. Now that would bewilder me!o_O

My nickel plated Browning High Power P 35 With custom sights , Grips & 3 # trigger.
The day I purchased it I was at the gun range. Everyone was shooting 45 ACP Colts. One guy said " that punnie 9mm cartridge will never last in the USA"

Easy--upper right (Norinco is sold):

This one. 20201026_161511.jpg I carry it every day, shoot 50 or so rounds through it every week and after somewhere in the range of 3000 rounds it's never had a hiccup.
Flaw? The ugly-duckling "tribal" graphics. Haven't been brave enough to try to remove them yet. Still trying to figure out what tribe Sig thinks I belong to.

Ruger GP100. The original-pattern factory grip is a custom-level-perfect fit, in my hands. My index finger naturally encounters the trigger, in a proper position for a double-action pull/stroke. The weapon points as naturally as if I were pointing my index finger. The action is sturdy, so, this is a long-lasting revolver. The early samples had what could be called “grunge grooves,” under the extractor, that could “eat” fouling from unburned or dirty-burning powder.

Its chief fault: It was VERY difficult to cherry-pick for a reasonably smooth trigger action, especially in the Eighties and early Nineties.

If I could possess only one handgun, it would be my first GP100, a 4” stainless, lugged barrel, adjustable sights, acquired about 1990. It is that good.

If I could possess only two handguns, it would be two GP100 revolvers. One would be the just-decribed-favorite.

If I could possess only one firearm, for all purposes, it would be a 6” GP100. I’d just have to go to the trouble to dress around it.

I am blessed to own a great many fantastic guns. I have firearms that I prefer for self defense and I favor a particular model but I can’t say it’s my favorite handgun.

I have a gorgeous Ed Brown 1911 that is a kinetic work of art ....... not my favorite.

I have several Smith revolvers with a performance center 681 that comes close.....but not my favorite handgun.

barring anything sentimental my FAVORITE handgun is the HK P7 series. I don’t think it’s SUPERIOR to everything else I just love everything about it from its practical form and function to its look to its odd duck operation. It’s just such a weird, wonderful handgun that is also eminently practical and reliable as well. So be it a PSP/M8/M13 hell even that chunky M10 the P7 is my favorite handgun.
