Do You Have So Many Guns You Can't Enjoy Them All?

Nope. LOL.

I enjoy them all. I try to shoot everything at least once a year but usually forget some of my old hunting rifles that aren't my favorites.

I fully intend to keep buying more. If I ever did get to where I had too many im sure my sons and daughter will take good care of them.

Nope. My guns are tools they all have a purpose. Some bring home the meat the rest keep me from becoming meat. If I’m not proficient with it or it just sits I cash it in for something useful.

Just so we're clear I'm not questioning anyone's choices.

I'm just trying to understand because I see some of your collections and I would be overwhelmed by that many guns

Ms. Katz has a manageable collection.

I got into guns late in life. Did my best to make up for lost time. After a few years I had accumulated about 25 handguns and a lesser number of long guns. Pretty eclectic "collection" , lots of older pieces. For a while I adhered to the "Never Sell A Gun" philosophy , but I got over it.

Then , a funny thing happened - I acquired a beat up Hot Rod , an old truck with the drive train of a muscle car. It makes me happy , and folks seem to enjoy seeing it roll by , but it is a money pit.
Now each individual firearm is subject to a "Why Do I Keep This One?" test. My handgun count stands at about 15 - and I must say it is quite liberating. I keep the ones I really enjoy ; liquidate the ones that have not received any attention in years. The proceeds go into the pit - the Hot Rod gets out into the daylight often.

To answer the OP Question : I DID have so many guns I couldn't enjoy them all , and I found a way to convert them to another form of enjoyment.

Life is good.

I don't really own guns for "enjoyment", although I certainly do enjoy them at times. Much like my truck, or chain saw. They're tools that I have for a reason. I'm not in a financial position to have guns purely for fun.

I have been accumulating guns for a long time now. Yes, I have guns that were bought for uses that I do not have that use for any more. I have a couple of game rifles and do not hunt any more. Of course I bought the best and latest one after I went deer hunting for the last time. Never went on the Antelope hunt it was bought for. I have several shotguns that were used in the field that I do not use any more. I have some .22 rifles and handguns that I will never fire again. I have a couple of "thats nice" impluse buys that I never really had any use for. (what do you actually do with a 16 gauge model 37 Winchester?). I also have a shotgun and a couple of hand guns that I shoot a lot. And am happy with those. Selling guns is difficult. Like many old guys I think they are worth more than I can get for them. So they just sit in the safe.

Hi...
I have a fairly large collection of firearms but am always looking to add a few more.
Sometimes I don't shoot a rifle or handgun for months but then shoot it every week for several months.
I don't think I have shot my M&P 40S&W one time this year. It almost always goes along to the range and my son shoots it but it is pretty much just not that interesting to me. Plastic fantastic just doesn't do much for me.
However...I generally have about 20-25 revolvers along for each trip to the range in calibers from .22LR to .44Magnum. Sometimes I shoot them all and sometimes I may only shoot a couple or three.
No interest in getting rid of any of them...always looking to find another revolver, or a nice shotgun or a rifle with a really nice wooden stock.
Don't really need any more firearms...but I still want some more.
I would like a nice 7-1/2" barreled nickle plated .45Colt SAA clone if I could find a nice one at a good price. Always looking for another Sako rifle at a good price. And I keep threatening to buy another 12ga autoloader.
I almost never pass up a nice Dan Wesson revolver if the price is good.

I guess I will keep buying until I die.m

I'm getting too many because they all won't fit in the safe and I don't have room for another safe--I like what I have but its getting unmanageable----probably will be getting rid of the cheapies and less interesting stuff.
There's no way you don't have room for another safe. Buy the safe, have it delivered, and you'll find a spot for it. :D

Guns were one of my first hobbies. My little town had a small trading post (pretty much just a 1-room gun shop) and I could buy and trade guns there from the time I was about 10 or 11 years old. Cord Phillips, a great old guy, ran the Trading Post and he would pretty much just trade out with me, whatever I had for whatever I wanted as long as the values were somewhat similar. I don't recall there being much money involved with any of the trades, nothing I had was very fancy nor was anything in the shop very fancy.

I recall specifically a time when I was about 13 or 14, and I counted the guns that I'd had and the total was 19 guns. I probably had no more than about 3 at a time, just kept them in a corner of my closet. There used to be a photo somewhere of me with two of the guns that I had on the day I did the counting, but I don't know if it's still around my parent's house or not. After that, I got into motorcycles and then cars and trucks, so those diluted my gun hobby. But now, I'm back to guns and I realize it's back to my first hobby. I just take it to be the circle of life and meant to be. Justification for the hobby, don't you think? ;)

I'm a shooter not a collector. I own 21 guns now, and used to have more like 25 about a year ago. I am down sizing and refining what I own because I can only shoot them one at a time. I no longer want to own everything.

Other priorities now...………...

I've been off and on. I sold a bunch of bolt action rifles a few years ago because I have nowhere to shoot them past 100 yards. I rarely hunt anymore, so I no longer needed various shotguns for various quarry.
I've always enjoyed shooting and can spend hours in the backyard shooting air rifles and .22 CBs. I have a place to shoot handguns, rimfire and clays whenever I want...but I've mostly been into handguns the last couple years.
To answer the OP's question, yes. I have had more than I could enjoy, bit that never stopped me from wanting others. Probably more a product of change in what I enjoy though.

I own more guns than I have time to shoot and my targets of interest change over time. Just yesterday, I sold my favorite Remington 807 Wingmaster 12ga. Hated to sell it, but I have 3 other 12ga shotguns and am buying another that is more compatible with my current shooting preferences. I have ads running to sell 2 of the remaining three 12 ga guns. I just don't get much joy out of guns I don't shoot or think I'll shoot in the future. It is hard though, to decide what to sell. I just don't get much of a kick out of simply possessing a particular gun. This has become more pronounced as I get older. Which makes sense, given the fact that at age 74 my future is more limited than when I was 30.

Cars and motorcycles are FAR more expensive and take up too much space.
Guns? Just right... .
Agreed. For the price of one nice car you can complete a whole moderate sized gun collection. And storage, insurance, licensing fees, maintenance costs will all be smaller for the guns vs the one car.

I actually took two .22 pistols out to the range today that hadn't been out of the safe in at least 5 years. I looked real retro with the original Tasco Propoint clamped on top of one of them.

I enjoy them when I am shooting them and I enjoy seeing them just sitting in the gun rack`s. I will never believe I have to many gun`s. That is someone else`s idea about what to many of something is and that is a strange idea to me.
