Mk18 on the back yard range. Using steel case so I don’t have to police my brass from the woods and can save the brass cased for when times are really tough. Trying to practice my trigger control and manipulating the safety between strings.

Not an uncommon day.....

Browning Buckmark-Suppressed-.22LR
Krieghoff K80 Parcours -12ga

Just another day on the range here at the School....

Best,

Brought my TX22, M&Pc .22, my new to me Heritage Rough Rider .22 and HK VP40. I hated loading and unloading the Rough Rider but it was damn accurate and consistent with crappy iron sights

And the Rough Rider at 10 yards

Took a few shots with the AR-15 before I blew a primer that shut it down. I did get off enough rounds to make sure it was still zeroed. A few more rounds with the Mini 14. I haven't shot it that much. It's a fun little rifle. I chronographed some .357 SIG loads. Shot those out of my Glock 29. Finally, I took a few shots with my K6s. I've been carrying it lately and thought a little practice would be good. It was a nice day at the range. I had most of the place to myself.

Hi...
Sunday was range day as usual.
My son and I went to one of the gun clubs we belong to and had a great time shooting.
Shot a wide variety of handguns in calibers from .357Magnum through .45Colt.
Shot one of my Colt Troopers, my S&W 686 Silhouette Model and Model 27 and all three of my BlackHawks in.357Magnum.
Switched over to .41Magnum...shot both Blackhawks and my Model 57 and my Dan Wesson.
Then I ran a few magazines through my Springfield Armory 1911 carry gun in .45ACP.

Back to the revolvers...shot my nickel Cimarron Cody, Blackhawk, Model 25, both full size Vaqueros, Remington 1875 and Schofield replicas in .45Colt.

Finished the day firing some rounds through my Cimarron 1873 replica lever action in .45Colt and my Marlin .44Magnun lever action.

Fired enough rounds to fill a Folgers large coffee can with fired brass. My son did the same with another can. He also shot quite a few 9mm, 10mm, .40S&W and .45ACP.

Not sure which of us shot more total rounds.
I spent an hour and a half separating brass this morning. I have four tumblers running...one with mixed rifle brass and .375SuperMag brass from previous shooting sessions and one each of .41Magnum, .44Magnum and .45Colt brass.
Still have .357Magnum, 9mm, 10mm, .40S&W and .45ACP brass to tumble but there is no hurry to get them done. I have huge amounts of brass in all those calibers cleaned and ready for reloading.

Tomorrow I will be tumbling some more brass and beginning to process the brass that is tumbling today. Lots of primers, powder and bullets on hand so I will be reloading later on this week.

I didn't get to the .44Magnum revolvers on this trip...had them with us but the cold, wind and rain took some of the fun out of the day, so we quit a little bit earlier than we normally do.
Still it was a good day smacking steel and breaking rocks on the backstop berm.

Okay, I'll play....

  • Police trade-in Gen4 G22 installed in Micro Roni with Sig Romeo 5 (multiple failures to feed with one particular Korean 31 round mag) I was making cans dance at 30-40 yards with no problem.
  • Palmetto State Armory AK-V 9mm with Holosun 510c-GR. Reliable and fun.
  • 7" PSA Marauder .300 AAC upper. Multiple short cycles with 200gr S&B FMJ (not enough gas pressure to cycle). Worked fine with 115gr Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos.
  • 10.5" Bear Creek Arsenal .223 Wylde upper first time out. First 3 attempts resulted in failures to fire (it would feed, fire and eject... the next chambered round wouldn't fire). Then the clouds parted and it became perfectly reliable.
  • Black Aces 10" S Mini 12 Gauge that ran beautifully and "blastfully"
  • Black Aces 18.5" S Max that ran like a top.
  • Ruger New Vaquero with birdhead grip .45 Colt. Great fun
  • Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag. Shells fused themselves into cylinder when shooting .44 specials. Still a mystery
  • Walther PPK/s .22lr
  • Walther CCP 9mm
  • DWM Luger 7.65 that failed to cycle due to mild Fiocchi ammunition
  • Colt 1903 that was a dream to shoot
  • Savage 1907 .32acp that was not (needs works)
  • A friend's Norinco type 56 SKS (that was possibly the most enjoyable of them all)
The driving force for going shooting was to test the 12 gauge 7/8oz Lee slugs and 12 pellet 00 buckshot shells I loaded into once-fired Rio shells. They fed, fired and ejected perfectly... so even though some of my firearms were being temperamental jerks, it was a good outing overall.

Series 70 GC here at our range. 200g H&G #68 BB swc over 5g 231. Tore it up @15 yards.

Fired my Glock 19 today at the range.
Put about 70 rounds through.
Ran a couple drills on the standard bottle targets at 30 feet including double taps, speed reloads and this drill that i call modified "el pres" where i have 3 rounds in the gun, and 3 in the spare.
Begin facing away from the target, with hands in the air, with weapon concealed. When you hear the beep, spin around/draw weapon, fire 2 center center mass (very quickly) shots and one head shot (take at least 1/8 second to aim so you dont miss this shot!!!) - drop to the knee to reload then take 2 more center mass shots and the headshot to finish the drill. The goal is 7 seconds, but with winter jacket on (gotta practice as you will be) i was around 8 seconds which is acceptable. No misses. The ammunition i was shooting was Winchester -Ranger +p lead free 127 grain flat points, they shoot and function the same as my carry ammo, but theyre cheaper.

Kinda went ape today and burned through 500 rounds of 9 mm and few boxes of shotgun shells.

Shot a hundred or 2 out of a CZ P07, my old man shot a few mags from a p01, sisters husband broke in a rex delta(????) and wife's dad brought his new-ish gen 5 g19. Our 13 year old shot everything as good as anyone along with his .22

Brother in law is a Leo (and firearm instructor) not too far east of OKC so when he handed it to me I took his word for it. It shot like it should and despite the sights it still seemed on point

Old man didn't shoot a whole lot, since he retired from his mostly IT job and started back into woodworking he has more bandaids on his hands. When they turn red he calls it a day

Father in law brought a target stand for some plates I have and despite claiming to be not used to striker fired or even handguns hes still a hell of a shot

Shooting steel is a lot more fun than I thought it would be

I took my Polymer 80 PF9SS (G43) to the range so that I could sight in my Swampfox Sentinel red dot. I also took my Kel-Tec CP33 with me along with some clay birds. I had fun blasting clay birds at 25 and 50 yards with the CP33.
