Since this is a craft that involves incredible precision, I am sure many of you will use a lighted magnifying lamp of some sort. There are many out there. What do you suggest?

I just bought a cheapo from Amazon that is lighted and has a 10x magnification Sits on the table and has a gooseneck to adjust it.

Easy to handle. Put the little clear plastic shied directly on the part you want to view. That is the perfect distance for a perfect focus and the lenses can’t get scratched on the part. I use one of these probably 100 times a day at work for super quick and clear inspections.

I use a occular from a busted up 4x32 rimfire scope that I mounted on a Marlin camp 45, the scope lasted about 7 rounds.

Harbor Freight visor, five or six bucks. I keep em all over.... The bench, the garage, at work....always handy.

I use one of these, I recommend a 5 diopter glass lens. Anything stronger than that will make halos around what your trying to look at you only be able to focus in the center of it. It is lit with a circular fluorescent bulb and you have full focus vision through it. Works good for taking out splinters also.
Mine came with an edge clamp and a pin mount. The glass lens doesn't scratch like plastic lens do.

You can swing it around and pull it out off the edge of the bench and over your press if you need to.

It looks like they are led now instead of fluorescent. Not cheap but very versatile.

This one is the same thing at half the price.

I have a cheap 10x loupe on the bench. I usually use it backwards, rim on my face, ocular end facing the work. I can easy examine crimps, anvils, pockets, and cutters.

This is exactly what I use. Mine is ancient

Keep an eye on ebay for a geological microscope of 10 to 12 power. I have a couple and the are great for close work. Removing splinters -- nothing will beat them. For lesser magnifications I use a magnifying glass or a set of head mount magnifiers of about six power.

I wear an Optivisor while reloading. Tilted up and look up to view. Always there in place and no need to move around to look through a desk magnifier or picking up a handheld. You can add a loupe for extremely close view and you can add a light also. Handiest magnifier in my opinion. Different lenses available and my #5 lens works well. Lenses are supposed to focus at inches from your eyes. A #5 focuses at 8" with 2.5X magnification. I would add a loupe plus the light. Well worth the cost and useful for many things.
