Four (4) gun only battery

Nothing wrong with those selections at all .

My only personal changes would be a 4” 7-shot 686+ .357... only because I have one and like them.

A 10/22, same reason.

I’d add a 22” adjustable choke barrel to the 870 only because you can triple the utility of your 870 with a shorter barrel (birds-small game, deer-big game, HD.) While it’s true a shorter barrel reduces swing weight on passing birds, Maneuvering through your house at the ready or in tighter quarters in the forest on a deer-hog hunt is more difficult with a 28” barrel on your shotgun.

One can’t ever go wrong with a .30-06 bolt gun, it does just about anything and everything... and for some reason I don’t even one one anymore.

Sounds good to me. I'll keep my Ruger 10-22 though, or the new Ruger 22LR "American Rimfire" bolt I just gave my wife for her birthday, especially seeing as how the "American Rimfire" takes the same magazines as the 10-22.
A 5th option would be nice - I'd hate to be without a 22LR revolver of some kind. My favorite is my Smith 63, and I've probably put more rounds through it (pest control, small game including mountain grouse, putting ran-over cats out of their misery out by the road, and just plain old plinking fun) than all of my other guns put together.

Not a bad list...

.30-06 is a perfect choice, with factory and hand-loaded ammo covering everything in North America except maybe efficient deployment in long-range small varmint scenarios.

I would probably pick a 5 1/2" Stainless Blackhawk in .45 Colt for primary handgun, and hope to squeeze a 5th spot for a NAA Mini .22 Mag for a CCW gun.

The 870 is a great choice, and I would go for an older model with all metal parts. I don't need 3" shells, so something like a 70's LEO surplus gun with a 18" cylinder bore and an extra 26" or 28" modified barrel would be fine.

The .22 rifle would be hard- many good choices.

I could live with the OP’s caliber lineup if I had to. My guns would differ slightly.

Remington 541 T-HB .22 - plinking and small game
Remington Model 7 in 7-08 - larger game

1: Ruger American Rimfire Walnut chambered in 22lr topped off with a quality 4x rimfire scope. 22lr is perfect for putting small game in the pot, eliminating vermin, and plinking.
2: Ruger American Predator chambered in .223 Remington topped off with a 3-9x40mm scope of some sort. .223 Remington for coyote, bobcat, hogs, and whitetail deer. Can be a property defense rifle in a pinch.
3: Winchester model 70 Featherweight chambered in .270 Winchester topped off with a 4x scope of high quality. .270 Winchester is the best cartridge imo for N.A. game, will work for coyotes up to grizzly. Also because Jack O'Connor.
4: Glock 19 for concealed carry.

So, for this nightmarish scenario where I can only have 4 guns, Im guessing society has collapsed and I have to walk the nomads road in search of canned dog food, beef jerky, and Twinkies while avoiding bands of marauders.......

AR15 cuz........ya know, all the reasons an AR is essential, post-apocalypse.

M9, though any high cap 9mm will work, I just like Berettas. Might as well be classy in the Wastlelands. Lets you fight back to your rifle, or someone elses rifle.

A scoped and suppressed takedown .22, M70 Papoose, or 10/22. for eliminating sentries and hunting small game without attracting big game.

Compact hideaway, preferably a 9mm or .22 so it can be fed from my existing ammo stocks. A P239 or even a S&W 317 would do nicely. Ya know, something that would go unnoticed by a casual pat-down. Does anyone make an underwear holster for an LCP?

My wife and I own at least the following, and consider them exactly what we need for “just about anything that comes up”:
1-12ga. 31/2” magnum pump gun with variable chokes and 26” barrel
2- .357 magnum revolver
3- .22 auto rifle
4- .357 lever action rifle
These tools have served us well for a long time, most generally used in supplying us with nutrition and shooting pleasure. In the event of circumstances involving threat to us or our property, they can and will be transferred into the category of weapon without hesitation.

Well, if I play the 4 guns game, I guess the following would do for a while until I went on another BUYING SPREE!!!

Marlin 1894 CSBL in .357 magnum (have)
S&W 686+ with 3" barrel in .357 magnum (want)
Ruger GSR in .308 (have)
Zastava MP22 carbine in .22 magnum (have)

Marlin model 60. Preferably a 80s model.
Ak-47 preferably a import.
Ruger American predator in 7.62×39.
Glock 19.
That will handle most anything I would come into contact with.

I feel another piece of short fiction coming on! Stand by for edits!

Change your 30-06 to 280AI and if be fine with it. A 175 round nose is impressive in 7x57. The 280 AI would be even more so.

1 is none, 2 is one... as far as handguns go. 2 different cartridges for obvious reasons. I debated the AR over my M1a... but close-in firepower is where it's at. The Mossy for cleanup detail.

Four guns

First, I'll take four ARs- A pistol, SBR, carbine and 20".
Next, I'll take four 1911s- 2 Government Models, a Gold Cup and a Gold Cup Commander
Then, I'll take four 9mms, P-365, PPQ, Sig 320 and a Glock 45 or 19x
and we'll add to that, four shotguns- A nice 20 gauge SxS, Beretta 1301 Tactical....
