Four (4) gun only battery

Four is tough, five would be much easier. But I'd go with the following:

- A bolt action 30-06 with quality glass
- An AR 15 in 556/223 with a quality red dot
- Semi-Auto 22 rifle, probably a 10/22
- Smallish 9mm - something like 43x, Shield, 365, 26, etc.

If I could have a fifth I'd want a 12 gauge shotgun, but I'd prioritize the others first.

Id go with my
Glock 20. Do anything I need. Hunt or sd. Not ideal for either but sufficient for both.

A 22. Likely my 617 or a lever action rifle. Both can do what the other can.

One of my 338 lapua assuming replacement barrels are still available. If I can only have one rifle then "over kill " isn't a concern. If no parts or anything id probably back it down to 257 Robert's or 243. Maybe 30-06

Then probably, as much as it pains me to say it, an AR. Either my 6920 or DD.

Sometimes I might say a 870/500/ nova... but I have all those and still do my small game hunting with a 22. Unless pterodactyl are a problem I don't think I actually NEED to shoot flying objects. Fun as I find it nowadays. One likely wouldn't be concerned with the legality of shooting turkey or grouse on the ground at most points where the limit would be 4 guns. Make the 22 my 617 and I can be completely mobile with all four.

I could trade the Vinci for a Supernova. The 10/22 for a Ruger American. The SR9c for a 1911.

A 1911 in 45 for bullseye/ long distance shooting
A contender with a plethora of barrels and stocks
A 1911 doublestack in 9mm for fun
A volquartsen scorpion for 22 fun

I'd change the shotgun to an Ithaca, although, the Mossberg combo that comes with the short barrel might get the nod.

And for the sake of discussion, the 30-06 and 357 lend themselves well to handloading, which really broadens the range of both cartridges.

I'd have:

Glock 20 even without a .40 conversion barrel you can shoot .40 when you're in a bind. This will be primarily for defense from 2 legged critters. Also, be able to use for hunting.

Full size .357 revolver. Can use for in the woods hunting, back up if you down something and need to finish it. Self defense against 2 legged critters. And reloading is easy since you don't have to scrounge for brass after firing.

Ar15 in 5.56. in a lawless land you can take deer. Much larger and you might have to use a few rounds. Bit when you're desperate you're desperate. Good protection against 2 legged critters at a distance. Especially when there is more than 1 to deal with. Key strength against a bolt action rifle.

12ga. Use it for breaching locked doors like in the movies. Nothing else. Well maybe some bird hunting too.

Of what I have:

1. My Browning 1911-380. This covers both a carry pistol and a 22lr pistol
2. An AR, this covers both a 5.56 and 22lr rifle
3. My CZ 455, this covers 22lr bolt
4. Either my CZ EVO Scorpion or my High Point/High Tower bullpup 9mm. This covers a centre fire plinker.

If I were into shotguns, either 3 or 4 could be sacrificed. Number 4 could also be sacrificed to make room for my Ruger 77/44, a bolt action 44mag.

I'm going to stick with guns I already own, as I probably wouldn't get to go shopping in a "you can only have 4 guns" scenario. So, here goes...

• AK47 - With essentially the same ballistics as a .30-30, it can easily keep food on the table. Obviously, it's already very capable of SD/HD duty as well. Outfitted with upgraded iron sights, an RDS and a light, it's a pretty versatile carbine.
• Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro - As a compact .45 with 11-15 rounds capacity (depending on the mag used), it can handle self defense needs from CCW up to nightstand/HD. Mine has a compact light/laser module to make it even more versatile.
• S&W 622 - For times when less is more. Highly reliable and accurate. 12 round capacity of .22LR. Great suppressor host when discretion is required.
• Beretta A300 12 gauge - For all the myriad purposes a shotgun fulfils. It's a bit long for maneuvering indoors, but a single shotgun pulled hunting and SD for most people before we all got into owning a different, ultra-specialized gun for every need.

I love these threads. Fun to think about. My 4 are probably not the best to "survive" with but would be the 4 I am the most comfortable with. Marlin 30-30. Mine is stainless, accurate and can take down anything in North America, with the right shot.
Remington 870. I have the cheap magnum version but it has been through everything and keeps on rocking.
Savage Bolt 22lr. I have a Burris Fullfield 2 on it. Very accurate, small game destroyer and with well placed shots can take down bigger stuff.
Pistol is harder. I love my Smith 686 but Glock 17 would serve well.

After a major downsizing in my firearms ( I moved around a lot, and was annoyed at moving guns I hadn't fired since the last time I had moved them), I am almost down to 4.

I've still got 2 1911s, a Full Size and an Officer's Model. I'd say that the full size would go, the compact would stay.

Other than the 2 pistols, I have a Savage Model 12 BVSS chambered in.308 Winchester, a Kel-Tec SUB2000 in 9mm Glock19 mags, and 2 ARs. I've been trying to decide which AR goes and which stays for about 5 years now.

So if I got rid of one of the ARs, and the Full Size 1911, I'd have:
1) 1911 compact
2) SUB2K
3) AR-15
4) Bolt Action .308

Well as others have noted these things are tough.

Ar-15 in 5.56mm along with a CMMG 22lr conversion.

An 870 in 12 ga with rifle sighted barrel and three choke tubes.

A 357 mag revolver

Marlin 1894 in 357.

Most anything I"m likely to hunt in the southeast can be taken with those and it covers defense.

Smith & Wesson 460 XVR 4-5” barrel (460 for wild Tyrannosauruses/SUV’s, 45 Colt for anything else I need a handgun for)

Mossberg 500 12 gauge (pretty much does everything)

Springfield m1a (hunting/long range defense)

Ruger 10/22 (plinking/self defense from uppity squirrels)

1. 4” GP100, stainless, full-lug, adjustable sights.

2. Another GP100, just like #1, above. I believe in the pair-and-a-spare, but with a total limit of four, well two pairs with have to do.

3. Top-tier AR15 lower. LMT, BCM, or equivalent. I can add any of several upper receivers, of course. .223/5.56 and 6.8 SPC cover plenty of tasks.

4. Another top-tier AR15 lower, as above.

I know how to dress around a full-sized revolver, As I did when I was a non-wealthy young street cop, in the Eighties, so, can live without compact handguns. Compact handguns hurt my aging hands, when I shoot them, anyway. Being able to shoot .38 Special target wadcutters means that I can live without a rimfire firearm. Specialty .357 Mag ammo can do much, against all manner of men and beats, in places where I am likely to be, within the foreseeable future. I thought about listing two more GP100 revolvers, to complete the four. A 6” GP100 has enough sight radius to reach out and touch, if I do my part.

I can live without a shotgun. Even though my pair of M2 Benellis are my go-to home-defense firearms, that is a mission that can be accomplished with revolvers and the AR15/M4 weapon system.

I have treated this as a simple thought exercise, with no assumptions about why there is a limit of four. The outcome of the elections played NO part, whatsoever.

November being a month to be thankful, well, I am thankful that I already have more than the above-listed four firearms.
